Causes of World War I
World War I was a bloody conflict that was centered in Europe. The war started on July 28 1914 and ended November 11 1918. It was the first war to involve nations, twenty-eight to be exact. The war was between the Triple Alliances and Triple Entente. There were many cause to the war. The four major causes of WWI was militarism, alliances, imperialism and nationalism.
Militarism was the strategy of building a strong military force. Then with that, using war to gain more power, for example, land, raw materials or colonies. For each country to help protect their colonies they compete to build the largest armies and navies. Germany's advancements of militaristic culture began in 1850. This is when German Field Marshal Moltke started building a newer form of military technology, from the former Prussian Army. Countries in Europe seeked for people willing to help support then if a war started. One alliance was the Triple Entente was the U.K. (United Kingdom), France and Russia. They increased relations between Germany and Great Britain. Second was The Triple Alliance which was Germany, Austria-Hungary(AH) and Italy. It was formed by stopping Italy from attacking AH in the war with Russia. When the war began the alliances divided in two the allied powers and the Central Powers. The main countries of the allied war Russia, France, Britain and Serbia. After Italy broke the Triple Alliance they joined. The Central powers were now Germany, Austria-Hungary, bulgaria and Ottoman
