Human Services are, “providing human needs through an intense interdisciplinary knowledge base, that focuses on the prevention, as well as the remedy of solving problems, to maintain a commitment to improving their overall quality of life,” (Human Services, National, Wood) to those individuals suffer from social or economic problems. “Human services can be helpful to everyone in need, but directly targets those clients in society who need extra help in one shape, form, or another” (Human Services Careers). To work in the human services field, it does not require me to get a master’s degree; an associate degree is all I will need, that will qualify me to work in human services. If one chooses to work in this field, they will work closely with the client, to help them identify their problems, and create a plan of action to help the client solve their issues. Jobs in human services are separated into two different types: Those in which workers deal directly with each individual client and those in which workers provide administrative support for organizations that provides services to the community. I also included, different charts to show overall costs of various things such as, food, shelter, and health care expenses. In closing, “The United States Federal government and State governments provide the human service departments with aid to help citizens suffering from various problems which include poverty, homelessness, health-care related issues, abuse, and drug addiction” (Position). “Human services study the factors that affect the wellness of human-beings, to apply knowledge from those researches to create social programs” (Ethical). In each case, the human service professional uses their knowledge of social and psychological methods to assist people with health issues, diseases, disability, or age-related difficulties. “Why would anyone want to work in the human services field?” It’s hard work, long hours for little pay.
