Work Experience As part of my work experience, I have been given a place to work at Boots located in Wealdstone. It is about a 5 minute drive to the place however a bus does travel from near my house to Boots. I have been given a Boots tie and have been told to wear black trousers and a white shirt. My first thoughts about work experience are both positive and negative. I will meet several new people and will have the opportunity to communicate with the public. I hope to achieve numerous objectives by the end of this experience including confidence within my inner self. With several new faces about, their first impressions of me are going to be essential. In order to make their first impressions of me a success, I will do a friendly handshake to the manager. Although I will not recognise anyone, after a few days, I hope to make friends if not colleagues, with whom I can interact with during breaks and even during the day if anything happens. Remembering names will be a challenge depending on the number of employees. With such an exciting feeling, I am all excited working in an environment totally opposite to school. After the first few days of curiosity and nervousness, I hope things go to plan and it turns out to be great. Before entering the workplace, taking a few deep breathes will not only calm the body but also focus the mind. I need to ensure I 'fit in' with everyone so I gain the same respect as everyone else in the workplace. My first impressions were optimistic although a few things didn't go as planned. I travelled by car to make sure I got there on time, and thankfully, I did. A man opened the door, asking who I was and then took me right to the other end of the shop, where the counter was. There, I met the manager whose hand I shook. She took me to the stock room where the majority of the staff were and introduced me to them.
While I prefer kinder wording, it is impossible to become something you want without practice. Due to the “band wagon effect” we are especially susceptible to these things happening especially if we are unware or surrounded by people doing the same, naturally we want to fit in. To avoid doing this in a negative way, it would be a good idea to follow rule 56, in which Washington states that it is better to be alone than in bad company. If you are surrounded by good people good things will happen both physically and
In life you will be faced with the challenge of fitting in many times, but you should not let the people around you define who you are. At school there are lots of trends and I see it here at collegiate where people wear certain clothes or shoes because it’s a fad. In third and fourth grade the largest fad by far was “Silly Bandz” and everyone had them and everyone wanted to have them. It may seem to be an unsophisticated example, but it is very relevant to the topic. Everyone should be individual and not just what other people are pressuring them to be, but truly themselves. Be a leader not a
Conformity has its’ place, and there are many advantages to utilizing it at specific times and in specific places. For example, Logan Feys, the author of the essay, The Sociology of Leopard Man, offers, “nevertheless, being around people and their creations can be worthwhile… Most of the time you should be an active and contributing member of society,” (9 - 10). This quote expresses that conformity is necessary, for the sake of being around people, and even
I am an outsider. I stand out and I love to stand out sometimes. Then sometimes I like to fit in. I like to fit in because sometimes if I stand out I could get in trouble or get embarrassed. I think that I also like to fit in as a result of me being an introvert. I do not like to be put in the spotlight or being the center of attention. I have lived all my life being an introvert so all my life I have tried to fit in while at the same time trying to stand out. I am scared to stand out sometimes. I have several groups of
On the 25th of December 2014, in Taupo, I had volunteered to work at a homeless shelter. While I was there I had got told the procedures on what I was going to do on the job. My duties while working there was, cleaning, cooking, and serving. The idea of the homeless shelter is to meet, feed, and welcome other people that are less fortunate than us on Christmas.
Being a social butterfly, I view myself as a really simple individual to coexist with. I'm great at fitting into most circumstances, notwithstanding when managing the numerous deviants I've experienced all through my vocation. Regardless of where you work, the industry, or the span of the organization, I guarantee that you'll unavoidably get yourself one day taking a gander at an associate and pondering, "What planet would you say you are from? What's more, how could you have been able to you discover your way here?"
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” stated Ralph Waldo Emerson. Mr Emerson is claimed that most people in a society solely purpose is to fit in. The human race decides what it wants, what it needs, and what it uses. We all want to “fit in” because we are all afraid of getting judged, and be the weird one of the group. We all focus on the fact how people are different and not the same When I was in Middle school, conformity was everywhere with an exception of a couple people. But then when I came to High school I've seen about 75% conformity and 25% individuality this show when people get older they get the more individual people get. Because when they grow up they finally realize that
Developing your ability to work with adults as part of a team is a key
Fitting in is when you are able to please everyone around you. Sometimes, however, that comes at the cost of not being yourself and trying to act as the people around you do. Although this may be pleasing to the people around you and to yourself in the short-run, in the long run this becomes tiresome and harder to do. In Shrek while sitting at a table with Fiona’s parents, who also happen to be the king and queen of Far Far Away, there is obviously a
it is getting harder and harder to "fit in". When I say social pressure I mean
As once stated by John Lennon, “It’s weird not to be weird.” This quote encompasses the idea of trying to fit in and how people can be considered ‘weird’ if they do not fit in. This idea of fitting in can be described at conformity. Conformity being one’s behavior in accordance with socially accepted standards. Conformity can also be defined simply as “yielding to group pressures”. Group pressure can be in many forms, for example bullying, persuasion, teasing, etc. Conformity is brought about either by a desire to ‘fit in’ or be liked by others. This need can shape and often cloud our behavior, attitudes, and actions. It can also have many different psychological effects on an individual. The main psychological effects of trying to fit in include, but are not limited to, insanity, depression and anxiety, hostile behavior and petty
Upon completing my first full year at university, I wanted to be busy during summer deciding to look for a job. Reflecting on my skillset, I began looking for jobs involving customer service or legal work. As a result of this, I began working for a social media company called GetAssist, initially working as a door to door agent, before receiving a promotion which saw me transition to the Business Development sector. Although I had previously had no experience working either of these two jobs before, I learnt a handful of skills which are still being utilized. As discussed in lecture, there are various theories which look to unravel the dimensions behind the work place, finding explanations for why inequality and

In education 2130, we are ask to volunteer our time and do field experience that in return would give back to the community. I choose to do my field experience at Lula Elementary School in Hall County. During my time there I got to observe and watch teachers teach, how they handle children’s behavior and also their classroom management. In the paper I am going to discuss my field experience and what I learned in my time spent in a classroom. I am also going to try and make connections to educational psychology and what I learned in my education class. Also I am going to reflect on my emotional and professional reactions.
