The character Wonder Woman is widely seen through movies however, originally she started in comics. Comic books are an art form used to both entertain and inform. Wonder Woman was created to discuss women’s right to work but now represents empowerment for women.
The character wonder woman was created in the year 1942 by Dr. William Moulton Marston (Lepore “The Suprising Origin Story Of Wonder Woman.”). All American Comics was founded by Gaines that reached out to Marston for help to get super heros back out to the public with a postitve view. This is something completely new because Wonder Woman was the very first female super hero that came in with a bang (Lepore “The Suprising Origin Story Of Wonder Woman.”). The creators were inspired by the innocent of women and how they can be heroly and motherly. As well as Margaret Sanger the first women to open up an abortion clinic. In considering the relationship between the meanings of myths and their representation of women, we learned that the major role in shaping the narratives was played by men. Myths reveal to us the experiences of women living in the patriarchal society and we gain the symbol value accorded to women and we come to realize what the term "Woman" meant to the ancient Greek man. The film Wonder Woman provides agency for women by demonstrating a strong female character not restricted by traditional societal values. The character of Wonder Woman comes from a non traditional society where there are only women, and when the character enters our society, she points out differences between the two. These differences often highlight how our society fails where hers succeeds, in ways such as giving women a voice in positions of power and in physical spaces. Strong Female Protagonist vs. Violence Superheroes fight crime the whole purpose of superheroes is to stand against some kind of evil. In the standard American superhero narrative, superheroes all battle against villains and villains are almost always portrayed as being physically beaten by the hero. The appeal to superheroes is that they fight crime and beat evil, in any standard American superhero story it is seen that superheroes normally do resort to violence to fight villains. What normally is not shown is superheroes who defeat evil or villains without using any type of violence. It is a rarity in itself that there would be American superhero narratives that do not deploy the use of violence.
It is a wonderful idea for there to be a superhero such as Wonder Woman to be a role model women and young girls. That DC comics introduced her to their line-up of superheroes during the 40s was a surprise in itself. She was a surprise to critics at the time who felt she was just sexual statement.
