Before the American Revolution women were considered housewives that only needed to worry about having children and making sure chores around the house got done. During the American Revolution, women were considered rebels if they decided to go against what society wanted them to be. Women would take rolls of men such as becoming a soldier, they’d dress as men to be accepted into the roll and this was considered inappropriate. (Zeinert 7-8) Although women weren’t mentioned much, they were still a huge part of the American Revolution. Not only did they fight along with the other men, they also “sewed uniforms and knitted stockings for the soldiers” (Nguyen).
