Quinn enjoyed watching the man across from her talk. I was honestly kind of relaxing to be speaking to someone for a change. It was always terrifying at first, and she always focused on that. She would forget how she felt after things had calmed down, and how nice it was to be around other people. It made her forget about the supernatural world she lived in, and how everything around her was absolutely insane. Her mind just let go of the abuse and the war and her money troubles and her sadness, and just let her focus on the person across from her. It was easy (ish) and comfortable, once she was able to calm down. She smiled at Diego when he started speaking about Wawa again. She muttered ‘cool’ and laughed a bit at his friend. She didn’t say much, and instead just kept a polite and friendly silence.

Quinn was surprised that Diego didn’t say anything about her comment on the stepdad, yet she was very happy he didn’t. Even if she did decide to talk about him, and if he asked her she wouldn’t, it would be a conversation that might go on forever. Her dad was complicated. The way he treated his wife and daughter wasn’t complicated. It was horrible. Everything he did was horrible. He was a murder. It was that impossible goal or dream that you knew in your soul was impossible. Every time she ran into a member from that pack she tried to talk to them, tried to befriend them, and tried to eventually bring up the subject of changing packs. The pressure always got to her, and she chickened out the few times she had actually gotten close enough to one. She would always change the subject. She knew it was her fault that she hadn’t gotten closer to her goal. She knew that this would have to change if she were to leave her
