The play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare had ended in a tragedy that was presented in such a way that it had shocked the audience. In summary, Romeo and Juliet, the Star cross 'd lovers, were heavily impacted by their long history family feud. The family feud then lead to Romeo and Juliet and other important characters in the play to keep secrets from each other. Thus, creating multiple problems in the play that resulted in Romeo and Juliet 's death. First of all, Romeo and Juliet are both deeply in love with each other. With this in mind, Romeo and Juliet began to develop their personal hamartias that remained evident until the finale. One of them being Romeo 's sudden rashness. For example, Romeo quickly insisted on marrying Juliet. During act 2, scene 2, Romeo wanted to ask Juliet to get married with him, however, she disagreed because they just met. Later on, Romeo says, “th ' exchange of thy love 's faithful vow for mine" (II,ii,127). This simply shows Romeo 's rashness because he wants to rush the marriage even though he isn 't ready and his rashness soon influenced Juliet as well. Furthermore, another hamartia displayed in the play was his impetuous decisions. His lack of forethought explains how it affected the misfortunate causes in the play. For instance, during the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt, Romeo had tried to stop the fight saying, " courage, man, the hurt cannot be much." (III,i,91), which sadly lead to Mercutio 's fatal death. Likewise, if Romeo weren 't there to stop the fight, possibly Mercutio could have won and could have avoided the misfortunate events of Romeo getting banished from Verona. On the other hand, Juliet 's hamartia was that she became too loyal to Romeo which had affected the misfortune of their appending death. For example, Juliet was loyal to Romeo abandoned the marriage with Paris by taking the
In the play, Friar Lawrence was at fault for secretly marrying off Romeo and Juliet because he knew the feud between their two families wasn 't going to end unless he were to marry off the couple. He was delusional of this idea to marrying them off thinking that the feud will end by this marriage, saying “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancour into pure love" (II,iii,91-92). After the marriage between Romeo and Juliet, Friar started to notice that the marriage wasn 't the solution to fix the family feud, but made matters worse. Another reason why Friar Lawrence was at fault was because he suggested to Juliet to drink a potion on Wednesday night containing some poison to allow her to fake her death so she would be able to see and live with Romeo. As she lies deathly pale, Friar Lawrence explains to Juliet he will immediately send a message for a friend to Mantua and tell him information that she is waiting in the tomb. However, as Juliet apologized to her father on Tuesday, he was delighted to hear her apology and rearranged the marriage on Wednesday afternoon. Capulet 's decision had effected Lawrence 's plan because Romeo will receive the letter late. Romeo, as romantic as always, killed himself after hearing the death of Juliet resulting the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet to occur, but also Paris. His thoughts of fixing the feud had lead to

Romeo and Juliet Essay Every action we take, decision we make, and person we fall in love with always leads us to our inevitable destiny. Some people are meant to live happily ever after, while others may not be so lucky. Romeo and Juliet ended up being one of those not-so-lucky couples. Friar Lawrence, when approached by Romeo, was skeptical about marrying him to Juliet. He pointed out that “Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, so soon [is] foresaken” and that “much salt water [was] thrown away in waste” (). The Friar also risked hate from both the Capulet and Montague families, both of which held much prominence and power in Verona. However, Friar Lawrence did agree to wed the lovers because he believed “this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (). However, the Friar’s dreams of happily ever after were torn apart in the worst possible way: Juliet and Romeo both committed suicide. In marrying Romeo and Juliet, the Friar married two star-crossed lovers, which caused “a greater power than we can contradict” to end both Romeo and Juliet’s lives (). Friar Lawrence’s dream, one filled with good intent, lead to the deaths of two teenagers.
Mercutio can be blamed for Romeo and Juliet’s peril because he initiated the fight with Tybalt and forced Romeo to go to the Capulet’s party. At the beginning of the play, Romeo gets invited to the Capulet’s party by a servant, unless he was a Montague. At first, Romeo did not want to go, but Mercutio eventually convinced him under the pretext that Rosaline, Romeo’s love, was going to be there. The next day, Tybalt, a Capulet, went looking for Romeo because he knew that Romeo was at the Capulet party. Instead, he stumbled upon Mercutio and Benvolio and asked them where he could find Romeo. However, Mercutio did not want to tell him and insisted on having a duel. Tybalt killed Mercutio during the fight, and Romeo kills Tybalt because he has the need to avenge his friend. Unfortunately, Prince Escalus punished Romeo by banishing him from Verona. This made Romeo and Juliet’s love
They are then married by Friar Lawrence. On that same morning Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, Romeo the retaliates by killing Tybalt which gets him banished from Verona. Then Juliet's parents arrange a marriage for
In the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, many people lead to the outcome of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. The play is about a boy, Romeo, and a girl, Juliet, from two rival families that fall in love. The two families, the Montagues and Capulets, have been fighting for a long time and it affects the entire city of Verona, where they live. It is debated whether or not the deaths of the star-crossed lovers could be blamed on numerous people. The tragedy of their deaths was the faults of multiple characters and could have been prevented.
In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers lost their lives when hate and love collided. From the Montagues came Romeo and from the Capulets came Juliet. The two families were feuding and Romeo and Juliet could not stand being without each other. They both killed themselves because they thought life was not worth living without the other. Though there are many who can be blamed for this tragic ending, there are three that are the most responsible.
Impetuosity in their sense of honor, love, and their sense of idealism contributed to Romeo and Juliet to an early death. They both had a sense of honor and were full of love and idealism. These virtues, honor, love and idealism, that seek to sustain life, end up destroying them. Romeo and Juliet become victims of their own fate because they carry everything to the highest standards and are too inexperienced to decide the fate of the love between them. Romeo had honor as his virtue, which caused him to fight Tybalt for killing Mercutio:
The lover’s immediate connection is established at the Capulet feast, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” Through doing this, it shows that Romeo is reckless and continues even though he recognizes that they come from different families, “o dear, my life is my foe’s debt”. Throughout the play, it establishes that Juliet allows herself to behave impulsively and be persuaded by Romeo into a impetuous and thoughtless marriage, “The exchange of thy love’s faithful vowel for mine” Juliet expresses her concern that it is too soon to promise to love Romeo when they have only just met, “It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden / Too like the lightning” This simile is used to convey Juliet’s thought on their sudden love. Although Juliet has recognized how spontaneous they are acting, it does not prevent her from continuing her relationship with Romeo, proving that Juliet is just as impulsive as Romeo. Thus, Shakespeare has skillfully utilized the lovers to demonstrate that their own reckless actions is a reason for their untimely
As the leading characters, Romeo and Juliet both portray the flaw that ultimately leads to the resolution: impulsiveness. Portrayed as emotional throughout the play, Romeo’s hamartia came to play in his vengeful state: “And fire-eyed fury be my conduct now...Either thou or I, or both, must go with him.” (3.1.117-122). Shakespeare’s characterization of Romeo as

Romantic love stories are often ended with a tragedy, because of loss of passion or a loved one. These tragedies are often the result of one person’s actions that ended someone’s life or love. In the Romeo and Juliet play written by William Shakespeare, two citizens of Verona come together and fall deeply in love. Unfortunately their love comes to an end, along with their lives, because of a misunderstanding and a persistent feud between their families. Although there are many characters in this play that have contributed to Romeo and Juliet’s death, Friar Laurence is the person most to blame.
Friar Lawrence wants to marry Romeo and Juliet in hopes their love for one another will end the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. He schemes and has the characters believe it is out of his love for Romeo and Juliet; as in their eyes, he is a fatherly figure. He is an older man who should be out to help the citizenry of Verona, but being egotistical, he uses Romeo and Juliet for his personal desires to end the feud between the families. Him being egocentric has the Friar make rash decisions in situations that he had not planned for. When the Capulets and the Montagues come together after the death of their children, Friar Lawrence says, “Her nurse is privy; and if aught in this/ Miscarried by my fault, let my old life/ Be sacrificed some hour before his time/ Unto the rigor of severest law.” (V.iii.266-269). The Friar explains Romeo and Juliet’s love story and the reasoning behind their secret marriage and why he went through with marrying the star-crossed lovers. He does not say that his rashness is to be blamed for their children’s death, but turns to the Nurse’s knowledge of the secret marriage. Friar Lawrence is showcasing his rashness by outing the Nurse’s role in the marriage and not taking blame for the deaths, but has the Prince decide his punishment. He wants to blame another character with the knowledge of the marriage to make it seem as though he is not to be blamed. His
