The Life of William Shakespeare From the birth of William Shakespeare, to the death of the mastermind, he has left his mark on the world itself. From generation to generation, William Shakespeare's plays have been used all around the world creating dramatic masterpieces, and to this day, will forever be known as the greatest dramatist. WillIam Shakespeare was said to be born on April 23, 1564 in a small town in the United Kingdom, Stratford-upon-Avon. “William Shakespeare did not seem destined for greatness. By 1597, fifteen of the thirty seven plays William Shakespeare had written were published. He began writing Sonnets in Stratford. In 1592 he made his mark in London. Where he started to perform his very first plays. After Henry The IV, Shakespeare’s first play, was performed, it attracted the attention of the Earl of Southampton. He helped Shakespeare become the famous poet he was today by helping him get into theaters to perform his plays. Being that everyone loved his poetic mind, more and more people gained interest in Shakespeare. After the theatre would always have in increase in audience, they wanted more and more of Shakespeare, making him and his plays more popular. He produced 37 plays in London, and lived a very expensive life. Even though Shakespeare had his glory and fame lifestyle, London was threatened with the plague, meaning Shakespeare had to flee, and by 1596 his family was stricken with grief. Later throughout the 1600’s, after the death of his son Hamnet, Shakespeare started writing and producing plays with more of a darker atmosphere. “It was in William Shakespeare's later period, after 1600, that he wrote the tragedies Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and Macbeth.” (“William Shakespeare Biography”). Shakespeare’s twisted emotions were performed through the characters in these plays. The most popular of these plays was Hamlet.
