Why do so many students find it so difficult to stay in college? Nearly one-third of students who matriculate never finish college. The question is why? Some students never finish college because they may feel like they do not belong. If they feel like they do not belong, they will not pay much attention in class, grades start going down, and they might start skipping class. They could also feel isolated or homesick. Homesickness or isolation will send them away, too. Academic preparedness is another reason students do not succeed in college. If they are not prepared and they keep trying, they could get burned out on education. When a person gets burned out on education, they tend to fall behind and never get caught up. They get frustrated and quit college. Choosing the wrong major and in some cases, the major is not offered, students tend to give up or quit college.
