Whole Foods Market allows each market to supply products that are standardized, and also supply products based on local buyer needs, as well as the culture of the area; therefore their business strategy is transnational (Thompson, 2016, p. 192). Whole Foods Market varies their products based on location, focusing on local products and any unique products to promote a neighborhood market feel for their customers. The company strategically chooses its locations, placing them in educated areas, and then focuses on products to sustain a competitive advantage.
Comparing my shopping experience at Whole Foods verses Walmart, I have always had positive experiences at Whole Foods. I admit at first I was hesitant to shop there because I thought their prices would be too high or that they wouldn’t have the items I was accustomed to purchasing. My first experience was shopping for lip balm. I was told they sold a brand that didn’t include camphor phenol and that was important to me. Being that I never shopped in Whole Foods before I immediately asked for assistance in finding the right isle. Not only did they direct me, they walked with me and asked what I was looking for, they showed me the product and even gave me useful information regarding the lip balm. Since that day I have been back many times, not only for lip balm but for a variety of groceries and products. Whole Foods staff is pleasant, enthusiastic and extremely helpful. They are well trained on their merchandise as well as customer service and seem to genuinely enjoy interacting and working at Whole Foods. In addition,
Whole Foods was founded by John Mackey in 1980 and since then, it has evolved into the world’s largest retail chain of natural and organic food supermarkets. It was an instant success because of an ability to carry far more organic and natural items than any rival, and its rapid growth is primarily due to being dedicated quality standards and core values. It was reflected in the company’s mission to “promote the vitality and well-being of all individuals by supplying the highest quality, most wholesome foods available.” Alongside with its mission, Mackey created five core values for the company. First, “sell the highest quality natural and organic products available.” Second, “satisfy and delight customers” as customers were declared the company’s
Shopping/Merchandising: Each Whole Foods store maintains a special environment for their customers, such as ambient lighting, natural displays, and educational demonstrations, to encourage the shopper to be a repeat customer and even share their experience with friends and family.
Customers/Consumers were worried about the changes in the market for food and drugs because they no longer had a single clue of what was in their products. Food production was moving from household prepared to general markets. As food markets became more refined due to the improvement of technology. The difficulty in discerning the quality of their product heightened. With new and quicker ways make food, fears of the ingredients that the foods consisted grew. Preservatives and chemicals also instilled a concern to consumers. Health officials, chemists, and other individuals tested and proved the dangers of these new additives.
The term “whole foods” refers to ingredients that are organic and closest to their natural state, which means they have either sprouted from the ground or have been sourced from animals. These foods contain healthy doses of vitamins and nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, natural sugars, and sodium. Fruits, vegetables, lean protein, grains, eggs, dairy, oils, seeds and nuts are the main components of a whole
To most consumers Whole Foods is known as a chain grocery store specializing in organic and natural foods. Some may go as far as say the name is synonymous with quality. This comparison is the result of Whole Foods’ marketing their brand successfully to consumers demanding their specialized foods. As with any organization, Whole Foods may consider evaluating their strategic objectives and decide if necessary course corrections are needed to reach their objectives and goals. Through a fundamental and technical analysis, I will discuss Whole Foods’ mission, vision, and goals, their competitive environment, and some factors within their strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat analysis. With such data and information I will recommend, if needed, and strategic changes in order to sustain a competitive advantage.
This is because of smaller weekly food budgets, in addition to poorly stocked stores. Those with lower incomes are more likely to spend money on inexpensive fats and sugars versus fresh fruits and vegetables that are more costly on a per-calorie basis. Healthy foods like whole grain products are more expensive than high-calorie junk foods. Economic forces have driven grocery stores out of many cities in the past few years, leaving only a few, and in some cases none. Many of these people living in these rural urban areas do not own cars and because the grocery stores that are still around are so far away, a person’s shopping trip may require them to take several buses or trains....

Long term and wide spread pesticide use poisons underground water sources, which, in turn, poison plants, animals, and humans. And, finally, by our uninformed actions, new super races of pests continue to evolve and create even greater dangers than the original.
Trader Joe’s also followed the statement into the cost leadership strategy that they do not set up a large shopping center area, instead of a place less than 10000 square feet which carry less items than normal market. It shows that, people would rather like to shopping in the area with less items because it can save their time of finding the products and consideration of buying products.
Moreover, Whole Foods has managed to communicate a message that confirms its advocacy for a healthier approach despite food costs. Communicating to the hearts of its customers, demonstrating human-interest, and expressing concern for the planet, are strategies that its rivals have neglected while marketing to the key demographic. The company has also differentiated its vision and mission by stating that it is a Declaration of Independence (Whole Foods, 2017). As it endeavors to expand in the marketplace and impact countless lives, its Declaration of Independence appeals to patriotic, upper-middle-class women who dedicate at least $1,000 per month to health-conscious foods or other exquisite goods (Peterson, 2015). Such a particular class meets the financial bracket that Whole Foods desires of its ideal
Another item to consider between the two stores is the quality of the products being offered.
