High school dropouts have always been a problem in the United States, there are over 1.2 million students that drop out of high school each year. That’s a student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day (2015). There are many reasons why students dropout of high school, it could be as simple as them individually not liking school to actually having a difficult life that gets in between their school studies. The top main reasons why students dropout is: lack of parent engagement, poor academic performances, work or family economic needs, lack of a supportive adult, disconnected between school academics and work, not enough individualized attention, and low student engagement. Students that come from a family of less educational experince, low income, low budget enviroment, lack of interest, family responsibilaties, working multible jobs, lack of parental support, and parenthood are the one who are most likey to drop out of high school easily. In the perspective of principals and teachers, 61% of teachers and 45% of principals saw lack of support at home as a factor in most cases of students ' dropping out, with 89% of teachers and 88% of principals saying it was a factor in at least some cases (Bridgeland, 2009, p.16). In some over cases, students drop out of school because they feel unprepared and are failing, the students believe that their previuos school years didn’t prepare them for the high school educational levels. Other students said they were just bored during school, wasn’t intersted in the material that was being taught. The excuse of being bored at school then leads to absences; many absences then leads to make up hours and or not walking down graduation. High school principals should prevent high school dropouts, not only is there dropouts because of parenthood, family issues, lack of interest but as well as those who have negative peers and get themselves into trouble. Today in America one million of the two million prison inmates are high school drop-outs, 80 percent of inmates are addicted to alcohol or drugs, and the success rate of addiction rehabilitation is low, around 15% succeed (Cassel, 2003, p.4). Seventy-five percent of crimes are comminted by high school dropouts in the United States
