In this modern era, architect is not a rare profession. But, according to the results of a survey undertaken by Architectsjournal.co.uk, 2031 adults did not know what architects really do. There were much works and responsible that architects have to do in his entire life on performing a good building for people.

From the architects rewarding services calculation table, IAI (Ikatan Arsitektur Indonesia) Jakarta, we can know that architects earn profit about 1% to 6% from the building construction and production cost. If architect takes project that cost 500 billion or more, architect will only get the 1%. That amount is relatively small if we compare it to the architect’s job and responsibility. They also spend much time in studying, analysing, designing, and constructing during his life. Architects also spent lots of money during their study time; on making a building model, laser cutting, drawing equipment, etc. That is why architect should get paid better than the current salary rate. There are some point that clarify architects job and responsible.

First, there are complexities in getting working permit. Architects have to apply for planning permission. Before apply a planning permission, architects have to make proposals and detail drawings to comply with the area development plan. It took several times for receiving the confirmation; start from 4 weeks and up to 3 years duration if they are working on a big project in a particular site. Without any planning permission, architects have to take offence and carry out large fines or even imprisonment.

Second, the concept must be very good and it takes time and energy to do so. In designing buildings, architects have to do a well-planned concept, space arrangement, spatial quality, structure, materials, mechanical and electrical system, and sanitary.
