There are upon many reasons why marijuana should be legalized in the United States. This controversy over marijuana has been going on for a very long time, marijuana didn’t become illegal until the mid 1900s, and many people didn’t really understand it then. Marijuana is known for helping with cancer, PTSD, many other diseases and along with that, it is also known that it releases dopamine that make you happy and hungry. Now many doctors and scientist believe this substance can be an answer for medicine, and many people believe that it should be recall in congress to end the Prohibition on it. The government have noticed the potential they have to bring in money for their local economies through taxing marijuana. For instance, “The four states that have legalized marijuana have already reaped over $200 million in combined tax revenue, while saving money in the police department, courts, prisons, parole and probation offices and other agencies that re burdened by pot prosecutions”. This can conclude that by legalizing it can be more helpful than it may seem. Also by legalizing marijuana can potentially help reduce crime within the United States, “there will be open competition and lower prices, so drug cartels, which include terrorists, would lose some or even all of their business”. Many people believe that if marijuana is legalized than it would lead to increase of use but actually “legal substances can be controlled in ways illegal ones cannot”. This can control the regulation and distribution of marijuana within the United States. The only reason we can’t really control marijuana because “It is the illegal market, with no standards, regulations or price controls, that pose a menace to public health”.
