Are you for or against Disney? For a majority of Americans this is a no brainer. There answer would be “YES”, because Disney inspired them as a kid, Disney let their imagination be free, or let them dream. Others would not agree, they say “NO” to Disney. For those people Disney has served as a direct representation of an individualist society, money making capitalist, or it represents dreams that cant come true. Yet, Disney has an incredible effect on today’s society due to the direct correlation to the American dream that they create in its publications and products.

All of that are just accomplishments to him. What really is amazing is how he started from scratch, he made friends in the production business and he worked his way to the top. He is a perfect example of the American dream. He is an American icon to be modeled after. Walt had many failures and he kept trying and trying till he prevailed. Once you see his accomplishments and how successful he was and then you read his biography, you will understand how he represents the American dream. There is nothing individualistic about him or his parks. Walt’s goal was to create a world where you can dream and think. You can have faith that one day your prince charming will come or that you may save the world but it is on a smaller scale than that, it is closer to reality. Walt Disney was born in 1890 to a woman named Seora Isabelle Zamora. His father, Elias, met Isabelle in California that same year and the two carried on an affair that ended with the birth of Walt. Later, Elias brought the two back to Chicago, Illinois where Isabelle became a housekeeper for the Disney family. Walt was assimilated into the Disney household and treated as the biological son of Elias and Flora Disney. In 1903, parents Elias and Flora added a daughter, Ruth, to the family. Elias worried about big-city life, so the Disney family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri, in 1906 (Jaffe 7).
