As obesity is the second cause in deaths in America, there are ways to decrease and prevent the number of people living with this condition. With healthy eating habits, exercise, and encouragement, those suffering and those wishing to prevent obesity can be saved. Since obesity in America is a growing issue, it is important to maintain a healthy weight and exercise regularly. If more people exercise and have a healthy diet the population of obese people will decrease. Obesity is the second most harmful conditions in the United States today.
It does not sound like much, but the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in underdeveloped countries would increase by about 69% by 2030 and the number diagnosed in developed countries would increase by about 20% by 2030. This article goes to show that the problem of diabetes is not going away anytime soon. It is a growing epidemic that continues to affect millions of people worldwide. I think that more people need to be educated about diabetes and their personal lifestyle choices that affect their health in such an immense manner. I know that it is easier said than done, but knowledge is power.
This habit that leads to problematic health concerns, economical set backs, and even death. A now diagnosable disease that is preventable should not have such control over anyone. The American mindset needs to shift from treatment of obesity, to prevention of obesity. With a focus on preventing obesity, America will become healthier, and financially more stable.
Obese individuals constitute nearly thirty percent of the population. They are more susceptible to disease and death than those of normal weight. Obesity can be considered deviant due to its societal reaction. Obesity is visibly deviant, therefore, making it easier for the labeling process to occur. Once the obese person has been labeled, he or she is deviant.
The studies provided some goals towards helping with the health problems of obesity. Furthermore, if not taken care of obesity increases various health issues. Patrice Harris, a member of the American Medical Association, points out, “Recognizing obesity as a disease will help change the way the medical community tackles this complex issue.” Harris’s opinion gives a better understanding of how the message of obesity could benefit the health issues. By adding his opinion on Burnette and Hoyt 's article it gives more information towards the positive side of the obesity question. “Calling obesity a disease provides a clear warning of the significant health risks associated with excessive weight” (Hoyt, Burnette).
3). Nowadays more people have better medical knowledge of the harm of being overweight. On a way to diminish morbidity and death, general wellbeing authorities and health care suppliers have focused on the “critical importance of adherence to a healthy lifestyle includes exercising regularly, eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, avoiding or quitting smoking, and consuming alcohol in moderation”. Although the advantages of healthy lifestyle choices are well-known among most people, less is known about the relative advantage of healthy habits among “obese versus normal weight and overweight individuals” (Matheson, King, Everett, 2011, para.1). Obesity is an autonomous risk factor for early death a great body of epidemiologic confirmation suggests.
The connection between these death rates and obesity are significant, this can end a person’s life; is unhealthy eating really worth dying for? Studies show that, “obese adults not only had higher rate of dying of all-cause or CVD-specific causes but also are dying earlier than normal-weight adults” (Borrell, Samuel, 2014, p. 518). Making healthier choices could prevent obesity and help to prolong your life. Not all people obtained obesity as adults but actually began getting t... ... middle of paper ... ...on, 2009, p. 19). When someone decides to continuously eat healthy, the effect is a healthier person.
Obesity is condition of being grossly fat or overweight. There are approximately ninety-seven million people overweight with a prevalence of women are 50% more then they are in men. For the world to stop obesity they would have to know the causes and factors of obesity, the negative effects, and how to prevent obesity. If the percentage of obese people keep rising the rate of death will also keep rising. Obesity doesn’t have to be such a big problem in the U.S if children and adults start eating healthier, exercising a moderate pace for thirty minutes, and keep there body in good condition.
The American Medical Association (AMA) has declared obesity a disease. Obesity means that an individual has too much body weight that could possibly cause a health risk. Having a body-mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher makes an individual morbidly obese. A healthy BMI would be from 20 to 24.9. The United States has one of the highest obesity rates in the world with an estimated of 36% of American adults suffering from it.
Recent research done by The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) showed that more than 64% of the US adult population is overweight (BMI >25 and <30 kg/m²); and approximately 31% of American adults are obese (BMI >30) (Obesity, 2008). This result has got people afraid of what would happen in the future if people don’t change their habits. An excessive storage of fat due to lack of physical activity and high calorie intake that often leads to other diseases is known as obesity. Obesity is an escalating problem, because people consume more calories and aren’t physically active; this could result in health problems, yet people can resolve this issue by consuming a healthy diet and regularly exercising, or consulting a doctor for medication or surgery if other solutions weren’t effective. People are consuming too many calories and aren’t physically active, because of changed lifestyles and technology advancement, in the last 20 years.
