Is it okay to get married to whom one pleases, even if that person is a member of the same sex? There’s are so many diverse opinions and viewpoints on these sensitive subjects, and sometimes individuals are too set in their own ways to stop and try to understand other people’s views, which is why common ground can be so hard to find. Common ground can often be difficult to find amongst individuals with different opinions, especially on sensitive topics such as the right to worship in school, abortion, and gay marriage. If someone believes that abortion is wrong, then they may have incredibly negative feelings towards individuals that are okay with abortion. It may be hard to sway the two types of people who are pro-choice or pro-life to try and find common ground because of individuals being adamant about their beliefs. There is not a right answer as to whether abortion is right or wrong, or at least there hasn’t been one set yet, and it’s the right to have an opinion on the topic that makes common ground so hard to achieve. Does everyone have the right to be in love? Does everyone have the right to spend their lives with the person they love? Do they have the right to spend their lives with the person they love even if their partner is a member of the same sex? If one were to go to tfpstudentaction.org, they would see an article listing ten reasons why gay marriage isn’t okay, reasons ranging from “it is not marriage,” to “it turns a moral wrong into a civil right.” (tfpstudentaction.org) But if someone were to go to the website catholicvote.org, they’d see that some individuals, and in this case, religious individuals; are coming up with arguments FOR gay marriage such as saying
