Why I Want To Pursue Post-Secondary School

During elementary school, I slowly rose through the ranks until I reached the supreme order of grade seven. I still recall the significance of finally being able to use my school’s "geodome" and courtyard. However, I would be downgraded to the lowest ranks upon coming to high school. The night before my first day, I remember worrying about the teachers and the people. I thought that I wouldn’t make any friends nor would any teachers like me. I just wanted to finish high school and pursue post-secondary education. By eighth grade, I already had a general sense of my life’s direction. I wanted to pursue a political science degree and then become a lawyer.

However, coming to Kwantlen Park Secondary meant that many students experimented with drugs. After the bell rang, I marched into the parking lot. As I walked past one of the grade twelve’s car, a student offered me a “joint.” I was faced with a decision that could have changed my life. If I took the joint, it could have potentially sent me on a path towards heavier drugs. However, I refused and I am a very grateful that I’ve never had to experiment with drugs.

Overall, my first year in high school was very enjoyable. I was able to forge many friendships that I still hold today. However, I lacked social confidence and never ventured out of my small group of friends. Indeed, many of my classmates didn’t even know about my existence until grade ten. However, Kwantlen Park Secondary has fabricated me into the person I am today. I’ve learned to be confident and bold, yet grounded and wholesome. I’ve gained valuable life experiences and wonderful friendships. I entered secondary school hoping for it to end, but I’m sure glad I’ve had such an extraordinary
