My main science and math academic goals at the moment is to explore and expand my love for the science and math. Throughout my childhood, I have always been interested in the science and math fields of academic study due to their invigorating nature. As a sophomore and freshman, I realized I had a passion specifically for the biological sciences since life and its processes are so complex and intricate. I never grow tired of learning the complexities and inner workings of all forms of life from substantial creatures such as humans to microscopic animals such as ants. If chosen, I will be able to complete a research project which will allow me to employ my knowledge rather than simply learning the fact. I would use this summer experience as an opportunity to further my love for biological sciences. I would use the research opportunity to learn to balance collaborative and individual work and jumpstart my career as a researcher. I feel as if doing research in a lab will teach me valuable critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Through the active learning of research, I will attempt to develop the intellectual skills of critical analysis and valuable transferable skills such as group work, data handling, and time management.
