Introduction
I have had the dream of owning my own business for quite a long time now. Since I was 16 years old I have wanted to create a company that is all my own so I can run it the way I would like to and have a brand that people enjoy using. All throughout high school I have tried to pick courses that will only benefit me and creating my own business. My senior year in high school approached me with a lot of tough questions to answer like “where do I want to go to school, what should I major in, and should I take a year off from school”. For a long time before I decided I wanted to own my own business I wanted to be a law enforcement officer, specifically a Game Warden. A Game Warden is almost like a forest ranger who patrols the forests, lakes, rivers and hunting spots. Basically they patrol the woods and make sure people are not over fishing lakes, poaching animals out of season and staying safe during the winter when Ice fishing or snowmobiling. This seemed like the perfect career for me. I love being outdoors, I like fishing or hunting and snowmobiling has been something I have wanted to do for a while. I discovered this career while I was attending a junior police academy over the summer in Concord, New Hampshire. I originally wanted to be a state trooper but once I
My father used to tell me stories all the time about how he could catch criminals even when it was thought to be impossible. I have seen all of the recent concerns with police such as them using too much force or shooting someone when they didn’t need to be shot. I wanted to change the public’s current view on police. I really wanted to bring back the police motto of “to serve and protect”. I just feel as though over the years the police have been given a bad name because they have made a few mistakes by using too much force just because they were trying to be
Have you ever seen yourself working as Game Wardens? I honestly don’t see myself working as Game Wardens. If you really don’t know what Game Wardens are and do well let me tell you a little about them. Game wardens are great. It’s a nice work; you can work as Federal or State Warden. Both are great; I prefer Federal. Why? Because you’re still working with the government but to me is like they work better as a family instead of just everyone pretending to like each other and having to work together. Having said that, me give you some examples State and Federal of Game Wardens.
... are made for this occupation. The tasks along with the salary are all perfect for certain people. This job can be very stressful and dangerous. Everyone has their perfect scenario. Game wardens help keep the world safe while enjoying doing it.
I chose to do my ride along with the Lexington Police Department. The police officer that I got to ride along with was Officer Ernesti. Officer Ernesti has an associates degree in criminal justice. After high school he attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln. He says that he wished he chose a different field to study. The reason is was because he got in a fight with a suspect and injured his arm. He was afraid that he did something severe to his arm that he would not be able to perform any police duty. If he would have had a different degree he could have fallen back to something that does not relate to criminal justice. Before getting hired by the Lexington Police Department in January of 2014 he worked in Gosper County for two years. During his time at Gosper County he was a K-9 handler.
Unlike Police Officers Police detective don’t have to wear a uniform. Police detectives gather facts and collect evidence from criminal cases. When detectives try to figure out a crime scene they collect all the evidence needed to help them figure out the truth about what happened and who was responsible. This includes making an exploratory and final investigation. Becoming a detective might be quite hard, unless you are good at what you are supposed to do.
We must take actions to reform police behavior! The problem is not the police nor the people of the United States, but the Federal Government system in which we all have to abide by. In order for a police reform to be implemented, the system has to be fixed and reconstructed. The people of the United States want to feel protected by the police, but on the other hand, they receive limited training on how to effectively interact with the people in the community they serve. Police officers are ordained by the power of the government. Police reform should start by giving proper training to new recruits and veterans, enforcing community policing and police accountability.
What is the purpose of police officers? Are they here to provide safety for the people or are they here to just mess up their lives? All around the country the statement “protect and serve” can be seen on any police vehicle and any police building. But more often times than not the question arises, who are they truly protecting? Themselves or the helpless citizens of The United States of America. Over the past century crimes rates have sky rocketed; although these crimes are not being committed by your everyday criminals they 're being committed by the police officers that are suppose to be protecting the people. The reasoning behind these crimes remains unknown, but, there are always two sides to every story.
Police officers have a stressful job that requires quick decisions making with good judgment. Duties of a police officer involve writing reports and maintaining order in criminal situations, it’s all judged with critical thinking. Due to all the different duties that are required from a police officer they are required to have certain traits such as a good physical agility, ability to cope with difficult situations, well writing skills, as communication skills, and have the ability to have exert and respect commands of authority. Each department will recruit officers in a different way, but they will have some standards for recruitment techniques. These requirement will vary from minimum requirements, education, technology, legal knowledge, residency, and diversity. (Ch.14 Pg.349)
Every action the law enforcement community makes should leave a positive, everlasting effect on the community they serve. The negative view of law enforcement should not be the actions of a few but the unseen actions of many. The bad apples of law enforcement always make the news and the headlines, but the officer who went above and beyond to affect a family for the rest of their lifetime, goes unnoticed.
If I was to become a probation officer, one thing I would want to be is efficient, and successful. There would be several things I would try to focalize my attention on; supervision in communities, and its importance. Probation officers have very complex, and hard job; but if done with the right intentions, and the will to help people you can help change people’s lives.
There is still a lot of research to be done on this topic and data to be collected, there is ample amount of ways that this can be done whether it is done by surveys, in house research, face to face or any one of the many other options that are available, it should be done. The results should be reviewed and changes made in the areas where current policies are not working in a manner befitting a police officer or their department. Getting the public involved with doing surveys about what they see as problems can also be beneficial. As in recent events to where the public has been very outraged and outspoken about police using excessive force, and the public feeling that justice does not apply to them getting their opinions on what they are seeing or perceiving and letting them know their voices are being heard will in the long run help to mend the broken trust that the public has been
“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.” Those were the last words Eric Garner ever said. He was killed, no murdered, by police four years ago. Now, it’s 2018 and 175 people have been murdered by police. One hundred seventy-eight people, faceless to the public, but they all had a family, somebody who cared about them. That’s only 2018, what about the almost 1,000 people killed last year, or the 1,000 in 2016 and the 1,000 in 2015? Police are killing, but more people are getting upset over the fact that somebody had an abortion than the fact people are getting killed everyday by somebody who is supposed to protect them. I believe we need to get the police to change, they are killing people, everyday, more and more people are getting added to that list, they are teaching the children that this type of behavior is okay, and
In my opinion, the many different views of police culture can vary in many different situations. I say this because of the many different views this can be misleading at times. I think what's needed is reform of a police culture that has often infected relations between police and blacks, destabilized respect for cops and the law, and set the basis for the many deaths. The overall image of the police offers is an overview of the public’s perception of the police in reality. Without the public’s view of this police culture wouldn’t have the look it has now. Specific characteristics of the publics, association, or foundation remain interchangeable. Actions of the overall image are valuable because they
Across America, police have been involved in scandals and drugs. They are abusing the power that they have been given. The communities have begun not to trust the police because of their conduct toward the citizens. People have been beaten and harassed by the guys in blue. People in the communities have seen the police push individuals around and take things from individuals for no reason. People receive the wrong message. The public no longer can see a difference between the police and criminals.
The police handle an essential part in society as its protectors. The law enforcement officers look out for the citizens and try to protect their safety and happiness whenever possible. Throughout the years, however; the society has questioned the use of force, racism and internal corruption as well as other forms of misconduct by officers of the law. Some people claim that many of these problems are misconstrued by the media and blown out of capacity; these officers are simply doing their job. Others argue that these circumstances can be drawn back to poor training and policies. Others maintain that the whole system needs to be changed and that with the rise in crime; officers have become enforcers more than protectors.
What should we do in life? That always seems to be the question. Life is not guaranteed to be easy, never turning out the exact way that we want it to. A lot of people work hard to achieve their dreams of making a massive amount of money and having more than a seven percent return on their 401k plan. Truth is, life is not about the amount of money that we have saved up, it is about what we do to make a difference and how we will make our lifetime worth it. Something that people should set into place is a plan for their future. A plan that would help not only directs their path in life, but the paths of those around them too.
