First and foremost, the main thing I will need to do in order to reach my five and ten year goals is to never lose focus. I have to always keep my eyes on the prize and let that drive my everyday actions. Every day I will need to take the necessary steps in order to make progress towards accomplishing those goals. If I stay focused and motivated, the results will be bound to come.
Being a business management major at San Jose State University is giving me the knowledge and tools to be able to run my own business someday in the near future. I have already found a few good ones in the Bay Area. Attending an audio engineering school will allow me to learn the ins and outs of musical production and engineering. Going to school is not necessary for this position but it will definitely help tremendously. There are a lot of producers who simply learned how to make music on their own or with the help of their colleagues. I feel that going to school will be better for me than learning on my own because it will help me learn faster, put me around like minded people who share the same goals, and also will allow me to be in a learning environment. Having a degree that shows I am proficient in audio engineering will also make it a lot easier for me to find a job in the music industry starting out. Once I have finished with school, I will be able to get the job listed in my five-year plan. I will then work there for a few years or however long it takes for me to save up enough money to branch off and start my own business with my brother.
Overall, education and networking will be two key factors on whether or not I will be able to accomplish this goal in five and ten years. I feel that going to an audio engineering school will be the best thing for me, not only because I will be learning the ins and outs or musical production but also because it will put me in a learning environment that allows me to network with other people who are also interested in music in general.
