I am writing to express my interest in applying for the PGY-1 Veterinary Clinical Pharmacy Practice residency at Purdue University. After researching your curriculum, I understand that your program’s mission is to provide pharmacists with the knowledge of regulatory aspects of drug use in animals, instill a strong sense of ethical responsibility in decision making regarding veterinary drug use, as well as the skills necessary for compounding preparations for animal patients, and to provide experience in research and publications. At Purdue University, the variety in rotation opportunities, along with the strong faculty mentorship offers the balance of support and autonomy that I seek. After PGY-1 training, my plan is to pursue a career as a clinical veterinary pharmacist. My current areas of interest include large animal internal medicine, as well as small animal primary care, as I enjoy the challenging nature of working as a part of a multidisciplinary team focused on tackling complex clinical cases, as well as keeping a healthy animal healthy with wellness checks and client education.
