While attending UC Berkeley I will have to take courses in “social work values and ethics, dealing with a culturally diverse clientele, at-risk populations, promotion of social and economic justice, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policy and services…”(“Social Worker”). Taking these courses will help me earn my bachelor's at UC Berkeley.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics if you do not obtain a degree in social work, but obtain a degree in a similar career “sometimes one may be hired if one has a degree in a related field like psychology or sociology.” If I do not end up earning my Bachelors in Social Welfare, but have a Bachelor’s in Psychology, that will allow me to be a social worker as well, depending on the company hiring me.
