Gies, this story would have never been published. Miep once stated,
“But even an ordinary secretary or a housewife or a teenager can, within their own small ways, turn on a small light in a dark room.” For two years, Miep Gies helped to hide the Frank family, including five other
Jews. She brought them supplies, news of the outside, food rations, as well as hope. Miep Gies deserves to receive the Medal of Honor for her bravery in helping save the Jewish families.

Miep Gies is an extraordinary and humble woman, who deserves a lot of respect. She has taught me to look beyond one’s skin, religion, or beliefs and, instead, look at who they really are. Miep has kept the story of Anne Frank going. She has influenced the world with her tragic story and kind heart. Miep Gies is well deserving of the Medal of Honor Award because, despite her knowledge of the possible consequences, she was determined to keep the Jews safe from the Nazis. Miep opposed the holocaust in a better way than any other: by saving lives. It takes extreme courage and selflessness to risk your life in order to help others who differ from you.
On the other hand, there are many other people who helped save Jewish families.
However, none of them put forward as much effort as Miep Gies. While the others did help Jews hide from the Nazis, their lives were miserable. In some places, Jews were forced to work at businesses in order to restrain from being sent to concentration camps. Miep provided her

In Amsterdam, she witnessed Jews being drowned. They would drive them into rivers. Theresa said: “I saw with my own two eyes, one hundred and twenty Jews killed.” Another incident was that one day she was going to this field, and what she found was very tragic; she saw Jews basically forced to stand in a field and allow themselves to be shot. What made her want to help is the fact that Jewish mothers cried for their babies, and she just thought of what it would be like because she had children of her own. Gies' motivation for helping Jewish families during World War II was endless and inspirational to all. Although the heroic Miep Gies said she did not like being called a hero and she had done nothing extraordinary, the truth is that she put her life on the line for the Frank family. She began by saying "... I'm just a very common person. I simply had no choice." Miep saw herself as another ordinary person and thought that a human helping out another human was a task that was normal and almost obligatory. But, because she thought so little of herself, she believed she could take on the challenge. Moreover, she stated that "if people are allowed to think it takes remarkable qualities to act boldly on behalf of others, few will attempt it."
She could have said no and let the massacre of the Jews happened but she didn't. She loved her people. Even through the hard stuff.

Anne Frank was a 13-year-old Jewish girl who was thrown into one of the worst periods in the history of the world; the Holocaust. Though she went through awful things that many people will never experience, she always kept the faith that there was still some good in everyone. She once said, “Despite everything I still believe people are truly good at heart.” Her diary, which she kept while her family was in hiding from the Nazis, shows the triumph of her spirit over the evil in the world even through the pain of adolescence. The Franks and Van Dans were hiding and they suffered many hardships, mentally and physically. Many people in Anne’s situation would have become bitter and resentful, but Anne never would despair.

In conclusion , the life in the ghettos was unbearable. People were always dying, because they were forced to starve and live in very poor living conditions.Most prisoners lost approximately one-third of their body wight. The Jews in the ghettos suffered a lot. They were forced into labor everyday and would work up to twelve hours a day. Although they were weakened by their everyday lives, they still entertained themselves with anything they could find. Study, music and theater all served as an escape for them. Those who tried to hide in hiding places which they had prepared for their loved ones in cellars were quickly discovered by specially trained dogs. By 1944, when the germans began losing the war the remaining Jews were transported to concentrations camps or death to be murdered.
