Do humans still strive to survive no matter what the circumstances? Humans have been striving to survive for many years no matter what the circumstances. They have faced many obstacles and managed to overcome them. Looking back at the ancient life, humans had to start from the beginning to sustain life. For example, the ancient Egyptians survived by the technology they developed. In today’s society, we start where our previous generation ended; causing an expediential growth in terms of technology. Technology in the key to surviving in this world. Humans learned how to survive in the ancient times by developing innovative technology however, it came at a cost.

From 1879 with milking to the industrial farming in 1900, agriculture is improving more and more with time and technology (Burwash). Without agriculture, we would be stuck in the stone age for the inconsistent food supply coming in. But agriculture is very consistent with the same amount of food coming in every time. Technology helped agriculture make the crop sensors, where sensors and GPS locate where you already put your seeds and saves them for later and saves you a tremendous amount of money and seeds. Agriculture is a great survival skill which will keep advancing as technology accelerates forward.
Advancement in transportation also made humans strive to survive. The first spark of transportation first started in 3,500 B.C. when the first wheel was invented in what is now Iraq (Lambert). Having communication had made it easier for humans to do everything more efficiently and helped people catch up with what's happening around the world. Since the telephone era, communication has been on the rise and there is no one who can stop the advancement of technology. Communication has opened new doors for everything that relays on technology, that’s why it's the most important piece of technology out there.

Agriculture, according to Jared Diamond, is an adaptation this country has made that is the “worst mistake in the history of the human race”. In his article he discusses how the disadvantages of becoming a country based solely around agriculture have become a country’s biggest downfall. Looking back in the past, the fear of survival ultimately led to the beginning of agriculture. It is safe to assume that agriculture took off based on fear which can be why Diamond thinks so negatively of it. Today while I was out for lunch found one old woman, who seemed physically disable because her limbs were not moving properly, but she was pushing a heavy load in a trolley. I felt so sorry for finding on my way, but she is not only the one in this world whom I have met. Various elderly people are deprived for food and shelter but still working hard by themselves to survive. I encounter many bigger begging on the train or in the street having their proper limbs and with strong english speaking skills. But why those who have suffered a lot have been working hard just for survival? Many questions raised in my mind.
