Charity is an important part of our world today. People that get stuck in an awful situation or need a little extra help benefit from it immensely. Volunteering just a little bit of time can make a huge difference in someone else's life and also impacts everyone involved. Have you ever volunteered? On the other end of the spectrum, have you ever needed help or support from someone and it wasn't there? If we didn't have charities and people that volunteered the world wouldn't be able to function as well as it does with the help of others and their kind hearts. Charity is beneficial to society because it helps some people financially, helps others appreciate what they have, and makes the community a better place. Charity is important because it helps people appreciate what they have. It is important to connect chairity to ones own life. This will help with coping with problems and how to have a different outlook on life. People that have depression often feel better and hope after they help with a charity or volunteer because it makes them feel needed and/ or wanted (“Volunteering” par. 5). Charity has a “feel good” effect and works both ways. It makes the receiving side feel good from getting what they need and knowing that people care enough to help them out (Volunteering par. 5). There are many ways people can help others through charity and volunteering time without costing them any money. A common way people benefit others suffering through cancer or other diseases where it is common to lose hair is to donate long hair to locks of love. This is a charity/ organization that collects hair that people donate to make wigs for people that have lost most or all of their hair. Another way to help others out without spending any thing other than time is to be a 'babysitter” for free for an organization such as the YMCA when parents go work out and need some free time.
People are homeless and people are poor right now but they still survive because of the people who are good at heart. They give them hope that they can survive. Gerta Klein and Anne Frank survived with countless reasons why but the biggest one was hope, hope that better things are yet to come. People are struggling to survive and have been, but you can help make a difference in their lives.
There are some misconceptions on the issues of charity and solidarity when volunteers work with individuals who are less fortunate. In his informative piece, “Rethinking Volunteerism in America” Gavin Leonard addresses the key differences between charity and solidarity and how it is often intertwined in the minds of volunteers. Charity involves individuals providing help to others without having the proper knowledge of the person’s needs and wants. These volunteers assume that their service is helpful. Individuals who make charitable contributions often make short term commitments instead of implementing a long term goal. In addition, Leonard believes that volunteers who have a charity mindset are solely trying to come out their own guilt
Most people feel that they should help the needy in some way or another. The problem is how to help them. This problem generally arises when there is a person sitting on the side of the road in battered clothes with a cardboard sign asking for some form of help, almost always in the form of money. Yet something makes the giver uneasy. What will they do with this money? Do they need this money? Will it really help them? The truth of the matter is, it won't. However, there are things that can be done to help the needy. Giving money to a reliable foundation will help the helpless, something that transferring money from a pocket to a man's tin can will never do.
Wonderful things happen when a group of enthusiastic people come together with one simple goal: to help those in need. Acts of benevolence in a community can help to ease a financial burden, feed a hungry child, provide transportation to important appointments and so much more. Helping hands extended with kindness, compassion and respect. It makes a community stronger.
Have you ever held open a door for someone? This is a thoughtful act. I have helped and have had people help me when I have dropped my things and it made things easier for me because I had a helping hand. Helping someone in an inconvenience can turn their day around. Helping someone could make them happier. It could also make them more confident because they know someone was there to help them. It could also help them see some good in the world if they were sad or giving up. There are many other ways that helping someone during a time of need is important.
The definition of “charity” is different for everyone. Charity could mean to give their own time to help others in need to be selfless, it could also mean a form of making money, or it can also be a way to get community service hours. Going along the lines of people’s different perceptions of charity, there are many reasons on why you should and could do charity work. There are many different types of charity. In 2015, the top three charities in the US are United Way, The Salvation Army, and Feeding America.
volunteering is important in the public sector because it helps the public services save money other than the military as the military reservists get paid but it is still voluntary. I got all my information from the websites which are for the organisation. the benefits of volunteering are:
...tivities that seem insignificant help. In short by volunteering at a local soup kitchen can change one person’s day for the better. As Mother Teresa said, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”
I learned about the importance of giving back at the age of 11yr old and putting the very important needs of others in front of my own. Volunteering in a homeless shelter at a young age opened my eyes. Where I was placed to give food, clothes, money & hygiene products to people in need. Where would I be right now without the help of God, my mother, family& friends and the church community”. Giving a helping hand to the people in the community is Something we should always do. In the ("bible Acts 20:35 says in everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the lord Jesus himself said: it is more blessed to give than to receive"). Having a compassionate heart for the community blesses the congregation.
Volunteering enables a person to develop new skills that he or she would otherwise not have been able to develop. Unlike most other organizations, a charitable organization is happy to give positions to passionate, though inexperienced, individuals who desire to help others and benefit the community. Therefore, an individual with little experience in a field of work can gain meaningful skills that he or she can use in the future. For example, while I volunteered at the hospital this summer, I learned about the daily work lives and professional duties of doctors and nurses. Had I not volunteered, I would not have learned about these things. I was always interested in the medical field, but volunteering at the hospital let me explore my interests and en...
The amazing thing is, the people that volunteer to help are making a lot of differences. Our society has benefited from the generosity of volunteers of all ages. More than one and a half million non-profit organizations and charities benefiting as a result. The estimated economic value on the volunteering sector is in the area of billions of dollars annually. It has always been, a very important aspect of our society.
If we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. When we sacrifice our time to help someone in need, whether it is a great or small need, we become a part of their life and can help alleviate heavy burdens. Making time to help people in need creates opportunities for us to develop new and lasting relationships. Serving our fellowmen allows the best in each of us to shine through and we can become examples to our children.
A common misconception about volunteering is that it only helps the cause. Often times that aspect is the only part that is highlighted when the topic of donating time comes up. There is a different side of volunteering though. Many volunteers donate their time to help better the community they live in and the people that live in it. When they choose to do this they not only help others but they are also helping better themselves. Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities.
Helping Hands has helped my family in the past. Several years ago my family was struggling with income and Helping Hands was generous enough to help us pay our electric bill. I chose to volunteer at Helping Hands because I wanted to give back to the program. At the time, it seemed like there was little value in sorting piles of toys but then the manager shared with me that many children would be very happy to receive these toys for Christmas. This one comment helped me to put it all into perspective. Volunteering isn’t about me; it is about playing an active in the community. Bringing joy to families who are suffering, giving hope to the hopeless.
“Charity sees the need, not the cause.” (German Proverb) Many people may question “What is charity?” According to Webster’s dictionary, Charity is defined as the benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity. Charity to me is significant because it gives you a feeling of inner satisfaction while helping out your community as well. If you have the capability, then you should be able to share it with those less fortunate. The community we live in has a huge influence on us personally – it fosters safety, responsibility and sustainability – so it is important that we take our community seriously for the greater good of humanity and for our own personal benefit.
