I think that at least one point of any teens life, one thought of death by suicide. This thought lead me to my question: Why are teens committing suicide? How should it be prevented? How can we better or more optimally detect or predict risk? What leads one to think about dying? I want to do my research on this topic because it is such a popular way of dying, yet, many teens are uninformed of information that would ultimately help them. I started to be interested in this subject because it caught my attention that teens are attempting and going through with suicide is an increasing death cause in teens. I graduated high school recently and I understand how difficult those time. Sometimes it feels like there’s nobody to turn to or everything in life is just too stressful. It is also an odd age. We are trying to figure out who we are as a person and deciding what we want to do with our life that we forget to take a thirty second break. Teens have to deal with peer pressure problems at school, problems at home, the deaths of loved ones, and if they are already using drugs. …show more content…

The most popular reason is depression. Depression comes from life stressors, medical conditions that affect the brain, and substances teens take such as medications, drug and alcohol. Depression is defined as the point or points in one’s lifetime when they are mentally unstable and the emotional state marked by sadness, discouragement, and loss that can occur during the teenage years. Some of the other causes of suicide that I know of are grief, sexual abuse, relationship breakup, and bullying.
