In this discourse community, communication is key and depending on the situation involved its lexis is different. For example, the texts in scholarly vs popular are delivered and presented in several aspects to help build communication and to be understood by separate levels. Why are scholarly texts presented differently than popular texts? What is the importance of communication in general? I will answer these questions so that the general audience I have will have understanding of this topic at hand. I want the audience, my classmates/peers and teacher, to take heed of the information given and apply it if they function in the business field because it is here for them. I selected this audience because throughout the beginning of the drafting process they have been the ones to give me feedback on how to improve this paper so that the next person to read this will be pleased with the information provided and apply it. In my community, the communication factor is very formal and professional. They draw your attention with key concepts. After further research I can now explain why the qualities I previously stated are common in the business field. The language tends to be more formal, business-like, because you have to be professional at all times. You wouldn’t use slang in any form of a business letter, nor contractions either. Business letters, similar to essays, require fully developed thoughts and paragraphs. They are not short and quickly discussed like a tweet or a chat message, or even a text to another peer. Business communication aims to close the deal on a product and to draw in clients to that business.
