Fast food meals had always been an interest for young Americans because it is tasty, cheap, and convenient. The fast food meals are also known for being the tastiest meals in the world at a cheap price; however, they contain one of the most unhealthiest ingredients for consumers to eat. When these young Americans eat, they are usually not aware on what they are eating because they are innocent and naive. The way each individual eats differs from everyone else based on their race and tradition. Most of the kids are taught or are penetrated in eating specific food items because their parents/guardians told them to do so. In her article, Jane Brody warns her readers that the people are not be blamed if they gain more than 30 pounds in the past several decades; instead, the food industry is to be blamed when American gain unknown weight. The food industry is responsible for the rate of obesity increasing every year because the condiments that are inserted in the fast food meals are not healthy at all and it makes the consumers addicted to their meals due to its taste. The addiction of fast food is a problem because then the person who is addicted will eat the fast food meals without a doubt and will always ask for more without control himself/herself. Moreover, the problem of making fast food meals so cheap is that it will be the only thing that most people will buy to eat because the price is outstanding for the quality of the food that is sold. Based on a survey that was given to 100 Rosemead High School Students, 70% of them would rather buy a cheaper unhealthy meal instead of an expensive healthy meal. These students are not thinking twice before buying their meals because they would buy food based on the price instead of buying nutritious meals that costs a little bit more. Some ways that taxing these types of meals is that it can improve the health of young Americans, which can reduce the rate of obesity and change their eating habits. The price change is that hugest factor how these children view their fast food meals because if the food were to be taxed, it will make them consider in buying cheaper healthy meals than unhealthy meals. In addition, 61% of the 100 Rosemead High School students answered that they would not continue buying fast food meals if the price were to increase. Another way how taxing the unhealthy food products will improve the rate of obesity to decrease is that the tax money can be used to create programs that would benefit the children with their diet and physical conditions. The tax money can also help corporations make more fields in order to produce a lot of crops and vegetable in order to reduce money because of its overproduction. Making the vegetables cheaper will allow all social classes to afford it because the vegetables are a little more expensive than the ingredients inside a fast food meal. Putting an excise tax on unhealthy food products, such as candy, soda, cakes, etc., is reasonable because the fast food has been increasing the rate of obesity, diseases such as diabetes, and can possibly lead an individual to
