Drowning, screaming, Weeping, Send offs...These are some of the last words you heard from Jack Jill, Tyrone T. lll, Bob Blob and from others. The date was April 14-15 1912. The zone around North Atlantic Ocean. This was traumatic time/date. The Titanic had sunk and lots of people died 1,503 to be exact. But these people were rude, raw and blunt. And also the rude rich ones ended up dying. But not all of them died. It is kind of funny because the rude rich people were the ones that died. AKA people like Jack Jill and Bob Blob. The Titanic was on her maiden voyage, a return trip from Britain to America. The route was Southampton, England – Cherbourg, France – Queenstown, Ireland – New York, USA. The return route was going to be New York – Plymouth,
The Cause of the Loss of Life on the Titanic
Imagine you’re peacefully sailing along on a giant cruise liner in the middle of the ocean. But suddenly, you feel a shaking and the boat starts to tip. But how could this be? This boat is supposed to be unsinkable. People run to the far side of the boat, trying to avoid impending doom.
Just a day prior to the ship sinking there was a practice evacuation scheduled to happen. The drill was put in place just in case something were to happen to the ship. The crew decided to cancel this drill, which ended up costing hundreds of people’s lives. To add on to the poor planning the crew in charge of looking out for icebergs didn't have any binoculars, making it hard for them to see a good distance in front of the ship. And when Captain Edward J. Smith was warned about possible icebergs up ahead he paid little attention and kept on going. The weather was also brutal for sailing. The captain of the Californian, Stanley P. Lord (captain of a ship in close proximity to the Titanic when it sank) later indicated that the water temperature the might of the 14th, and most of the next day was below the freezing point of fresh water. This also allowed for more ice chunks and icebergs to form (yes even the one the Titanic collided with). Lastly a crew member took a wrong turn at a fatal time. Similar to how the Santa Maria (Columbus’ ship) sank by hitting a coral reef in 1492. The Santa Maria had been in control of an inexperienced cabin boy when he took a wrong turn and crashed the ship into a coral reef. A while later most of the ship had sunk, while what wood that was able to be salvaged was turned into a fort. The
The RMS Titanic; A Tragedy Based on Class. In April, 1912, the so called "unsinkable" Titanic set sail to New York. The great ship was as big as five city blocks, and weighed thousands and thousands of tons. Everyone who was everyone grabbed a room on the luxurious ship for the trip of a lifetime. On April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg an sank into the icy depths of the North Atlantic.
The story of the Titanic was told long before the ocean liner was even a thought. Fourteen years prior to the sinking of the Titanic, Morgan Robertson wrote a book called The Wreck of the Titan. In his book, a passenger ship called Titan set sail from England and was headed to New York loaded with first class passengers and luxurious items. The Titan hits an iceberg in the North Atlantic, causing the ship to sink and the passengers to panic. The lack of lifeboats and life jackets on the Titan lead to the loss of many lives. Morgan Robertson’s book would predict the fate of the great ocean liner, the Titanic, fourteen years after.
I find the story of the RMS Titanic very intriguing. Most everybody knows when it happened or how it happened, but very few people get to know the stories of the people that were passengers on the ill-fated ship. I was very lucky with the resources that I got, because most of them had quotes from the survivors. When reading the quotes, I got chills. I could picture myself in that freezing water or seeing my best friend or brother for the last time. The sinking of the RMS Titanic was a very sad ending of what was supposed to be a fairy-tale, and we can only hope that nothing like this happens ever again.
In the history of the world RMS Titanic remains one of the unsolvable missions. RMS Titanic was a famous “unsinkable” British passenger liner in its time which collided with an iceberg on 15 April, 1912 during its first voyage from Southampton to New York. The mankind remembered this disaster as one of the deadliest commercial peace time maritime disasters in modern history with the loss of more than 1500 passengers and crew. The RMS Titanic was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast with Thomas Andrews as her naval architect. Andrews was among who lost in the sinking. On her maiden voyage, she carried 2,224 passengers and crew.
This paper will be about the sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic. Some people call this sinking the greatest maritime disaster. It wasn't just the fact that the ship sank, but also all the different circumstances that caused this ship to sink and take so many lives.
Four days after leaving from Southampton, England, an iceberg struck the Royal Mail Steamer Titanic’s, also known as the RMS Titanic or Titanic, front hull. Many first and second class passengers couldn’t believe that the “unsinkable” could sink at all and the warning messages to the passengers to put on their life belts and head to the lifeboats. “I didn’t see the need to put on my lifebelt as the ship was said to be unsinkable,” said Margaret Tobin Brown, a first class passenger. While others in the steerage tried to escape the flooding waters but became lost or confused in their attempt to do so. As stated by Maggie Donovan, a steerage passenger , “I quickly became confused by all the passageways and stairs. Other steerage passengers who didn’t speak English were more lost and confused.” The sinking of the RMS Titanic is not as bad as it seems and was one of the most important factors in changing and promoting better life at sea during the early 20th century by establishing the International Ice Patrol, modifying ship designs, and updating and/or adding new safety laws and regulations.
The Titanic could have another reason for sinking. It could have been the Captain or ignorance of the radio room. If you don’t know, then let me tell you.
