Did you know that Jackie Robinson won Rookie of the Year in 1947 with a batting average of .297, 175 hits, 12 home runs, and 48 runs batted in? Did you know that know that he also was a six time All-Star between the years of 1949 and 1954? Even though most people probably think Jackie Robinson was an amazing baseball player, he was also a great person and civil rights activist. He was a very brave man, he stuck with supporting his race while playing baseball, even after all the hate he got. Jackie Robinson is a true example of bravery and courage.

While he was at boot camp at Fort Hood, Texas, he was arrested and court martialed for refusing to give up his seat and move to the back on a segregated bus. He later on received an honorable discharge. After his discharge, he began to play professional baseball. When he started playing professional baseball, it was a segregated sport, so there was an all white league and a negro league. He played for the negro league and was later chosen by Branch Rickey, president of the Brooklyn Dodgers to help integrate major league baseball. He joined the all white Montreal Royals, which was a farm team for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He later moved to Florida to begin spring training with the Royals. He then followed that with an amazing major league baseball career.
Jackie Robinson died in Stamford, Connecticut in the year of 1972. Jackie Robinson was 53 years old when he died. He may not be alive to this day but he left his legacy here and it is still here to this day. He was a true example of bravery and courage, and he was a great motivation for African American people all across the United
