Deception is a way for heroes to pursue heroic acts such as fighting crime, bringing peace, and helping the helpless without revealing their true identity. Behind the mask, heroes are often praised for their act, yet when they are seen as regular civilians, society does not often view them as their true image. In The Mark of Zorro there is a character who deceived everyone so that he could help the needy and to punish those of wrong doing, but when he is seen as his regular self, people often look down upon him. In the start of the story soon after Don Diego left, Zorro steps in to confront Gonzales for the mistreatment of Indians. Before Zorro leaves, he punishes Gonzales with a slap to the face. When Don Diego’s friend Friar Felipe is being punished because of lies, Zorro steps in after the incident to punish those in the wrong. Zorro punishes Captain Ramon for what he has done to the oppressed and for assaulting Lolita. He puts a ”Z” on his head for the mark of Zorro and ends his life. At the end of the story, Zorro and Lolita are trapped inside the tavern surrounded by Gonzales, soldiers, and the Governor waiting to catch them. Before the soldiers are about to get in, a band of caballeros come to save the day by setting Zorro and Lolita free. Lolita and everyone are surprised to see Don Diego under the mask of Zorro. Diego was able to fool everyone by having two identities. The author concludes the story with Lolita choosing the man who she wishes to marry and the man she chose was a perfect blend of Diego and
Despite the efforts of the community to make the ranch feel like home, Josey struggles with this transition. It is too similar to the life he once had. Josey tries to adjust to this community, however, he is reminded of his family and his untimate pursit of vengeance agaist the men who killed his family. Josey recognizes that this ranch is a symbol of a new life, but in order to enjoy this he must first take of what is important to him. Josey is a wanted man and the longer he lingers around this community without killing off those men after him, he puts their life in danger. This is one of many honorable acts of Josey. He knows that he man not live on to see the further development of his new community, but he is still willing to fight for the sake of avenging his family and saving their lives.
Esperanza, the most liberated of the sisters, devoted her life to make other people’s lives better. She became a reporter and later on died while covering the Gulf Crisis. She returned home, to her family as a spirit. At first, she spoke through La Llorona, a messenger who informed La Loca that her sister has died. All her family members saw her. She appeared to her mother as a little girl who had a nightmare and went near to her mother for comfort. Caridad had conversations with her about politics and La Loca talked to her by the river behind their home.

Here he presents use with some of the main characters who are Nayeli, Tacho, Vampi, Yolo, Matt, and Atomiko. The girls have been affected by the absence of the town’s men who have left the small town to seek work in the United States. The purpose in presenting us with the information of why these men have left the town is to present the fact, of why so many others in small towns like this one have left their towns, in search for work. He also provides a personal account of the everyday life of the people of Tres Camarones in a way that the reader can get a better idea of life in a small Mexican town. One of the main characters Nayeli is a dreamer, who fantasizes about living in a U.S. city and whose father that has left the town to the new world to seek work. The father was the town police man and someone who Nayeli looked up to. Nayeli and her friends take on a task to bring back seven men from the United States, for the purpose of helping to deal with the narcols that have threaten the daily life of the town’s people. But also feel that it is there duty to repopulate the town and prevent it from dying out. At this point the story takes on a different meaning and a new direction of heroism to save the town from the bad men. The fundamental conflict that led to their arrest and unfair trial was a clash between Mexican-Americans and the dominant White American culture. Acting as a host, El Pachuco is the spirit of the ideal, defiant Pachuco and serves as Henry’s Reyna’s alter ego throughout the play, intermingling past Mexican culture with the current Zoot Suit culture. El Pachuco serves as a corrective to illustrate the heavy biases that the court and media displayed throughout the 1940s against Chicano people. Through his constant interjections during the courtroom scene, and his final confrontation with the reporter at the conclusion of the play, he points out the injustices that Mexican-Americans had to endure. El Pachuco highlights each point in which the court discriminates or treats the Zoot Suiters unfairly.
The physical abuse between Ana and her boyfriend, Manny, enforce the acceptance of physical violence and misogyny in the Dominican world. As an outcast to the Dominican culture, Oscar stands up for Ana which emphasizes the normalcy of abusive relationships. However, as Oscar stands up for Ana he starts to become violent, which enforces the Dominican machismo. Even though Oscar has good intentions against the violence and misogyny, he embodies his Dominican culture by acting violently, which implies the culturally embedded machismo cycle of misogyny and violence. Another violent male character is the Gangster, who by his name creates a violent opinion of him. His relationship with Beli incites his Another act of male violence is developed through the relationship between the Gangster and Beli. First off, the character is named Gangster which automatically creates a violent appeal towards him. Gangster worked for Trujillo, the Dominican dictator, and eventually caused violent harm to Beli, despite their relationship. This further develops the machismo violence in the Dominican culture. it is unmistakable that life situations inspired Juan Rulfo to write this story. He like no other person had a greater understanding of how to portray the theme of family especially missing a father as a role model, death, survival and revenge. Moreover, through the use of local Mexican language it furthermore developed the society in which peasants had to live during the post-revolution. Additionally Juan Rulfo tries to add all five senses in the story forming magical realism and a vivid picture that the readers can understand. Gabriel Garcia Marquez writes about the true selfishness and ignorance that people have today. Everyone waits for someone else to step in and take the lead so something dreadful can be prevented or stopped. What people still do not notice is that if everyone was to stand back and wait for others, who is going to be the one who decides to do something? People don’t care who gets hurt, as long as it’s not themselves, like Angela Vicario, while other try to reassure themselves by thinking that they did all that they could, like Colonel Lazaro Aponte and Clotilde Armenta. And finally, some people try to fight for something necessary, but lose track of what they set out for in the first place.
There was an encounter with the sister in law of a Lima merchant, a misunderstanding with Catalina’s brother over his mistress and other occasions being betrothed to women in the New World. At one point in her travels she comes very close to dying on the way to Tucman from Concepcion. Two men on horseback save her and they take her back to their mistress’ ranch. As gratitude for saving her life she helps tend to the ranch for about two weeks. The mistress is so overwhelming thankful to Catalina that she offers her daughter for her to marry. “And a couple of days later, she let me know it would be fine by her if I married her daughter—a girl as black and ugly as the devil himself, quite the opposite of my taste, which has always run to pretty faces.” (28) These instances happened a lot, where because of her hard work throughout her life she was offered many women to marry. Azuela portrays Camila as an easily manipulated character who is forced to become Demetrio’s woman and to bed with him. She eventually accepts her fate and plays her role as Demetrio’s wife. Eventually Cervantes convinces Camila to join him in going back to the rebel forces encampment. Azuela depicts Camila undergoing different struggles for her decision to join the rebels.

In “The Fortune Teller,” a strange letter trembles the heart of the story’s protagonist, Camillo as he to understand the tone and meaning. The author, Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, attempts to make the reader believe that the letter is very ambiguous. This devious letter is a symbol of Camillo’s inability to realize that the treacherous deeds he has committed in the dark have finally come to light. This letter will ultimately change his life forever something he never expected. Not thinking of the large multitude of possible adverse outcomes, he reads the letter. Frightened that he has ruined what should have never been started, he broods over his decision to love a married woman. In light of this, Camillo continues his dubious love affair with his best friend’s wife, unconvinced that he will ever get caught. “The Fortune Teller” focuses on an intimate affair between three people that ends in death due to a letter, and Camillo will not understand what the true consequences that the letter entails until he is face to face with his best friend, Villela.
Later on in the movie she has her locks changed and the guy that changes them is a Spanish guy. She ends up accusing him of selling her spare keys to fellow gang members because he dressed similar and looked like the people who robbed her, she is stereotyping this man. Stereotyping is assuming that all members of a group are going to act and be the same. She fails to realize that his exterior does not reflect who he truly is.
