It was ninth grade when I was influenced by a miracle. His name is Jesus Christ and I believe that he is my savior. He influenced me to become a better person in life and his teachings still influence me to this day. Now, some people believe that he wasn’t a real person and everyone is entitled to his or her opinion but, I believe that he was a real person.
Back then in the ninth grade I was childish, immature, and sort of a punk. I had no future goals or plans that would lead me to success. I was into different things that I now know I shouldn’t have been involved in. I would hang out with the wrong crowd and do things that hurt me overall. I wasn’t open for change and I didn’t even have a clue about religion. Jesus Christ influenced me to become a better person and live a better life.
In the past, I would drink and party with friends on the weekends which caused me to completely ignore my responsibilities to my family, school, and my life. Now I gave up all the drinking, partying, and those certain individuals that tried to hold me back from changing. Jesus taught me that I cou...
My family taught me about Jesus at a young age, so I always knew I wanted to have a close relationship with him. Knowing that God is going to have my back no matter what was the best feeling to me. He will never leave a person or turn his back on them. The fact that the Bible guides people is one of the amazing things to me because one scripture can change a person whole life. My discourse community teaches a person about faith, love, and everything a person will ever need in life. Jesus encourages people, and supports people when they fail. Being a Christian motivates me and gives me a meaning of life. Being saved is easy, but the hard part is following his guidelines. He knows people are going to make a lot of mistakes in life, but the fact that he doesn’t judge them is amazing. Accepting Christ means a person has escaped that judgment and therefore they will have external life. Being a part of this discourse community has brought me to a new place in life, and for that I am
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
It was the beginning of freshman year. I didn’t know what to do or how to react to the people and classes in high school. I was so nervous and shaken about what was to come this upcoming year. My fears of getting lost in the hallways, being late for class, or not being in a class with someone I knew were looming over me. I was in some advanced classes that my other friends were not in. I was scared about what people would think so I felt the need to change who I was.
The life I had and the life I will have, have changed me as a person entirely. I became more confident and I’m learning to be independent. This would not have been accomplished without the motivation of my parents are their never ending trust and support in me. My friends have also influenced who I was because of good peer pressure and avoidance of the misguided children in school. I have a lot left to go through in my life according to Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg.
...hing in my power to get things back to the way they were before but it was just not happening. One morning when I was doing my devotional, I read in my devotional book that without God anything we try will fail. It was as if God said, “Here have a big piece of humble pie.” In college, humility will be a big part for me in that I will have to remember to ask for God to make me humble everyday. This, I believe, will further deepen my relationship with the Lord.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). This verse has got me through some of the most catastrophic times in my life. From the time I was born, up till the time I was a freshman I had lived with my Grandma. My Freshman year I attended Lincoln High School. Neither of my parents were able to have custody due to alcohol and drug addictions.
I grew up in a family who wasn't involved in church. My parents never attended church, but they did believe in God. I didn't have much knowledge about God. I knew very little of him, but what I did know was that he sent his son Jesus down to earth to save us. Often I believed that if you do many good things you would go to heaven. As a teen, I enjoyed going to school and playing sports. Entering high school, I began on the wrong path. I started to associate myself with the wrong group of people. Sports were becoming less fascinated to me. I got in a habit of drinking every weekend and surrounding myself with bad negativity. Everything went downhill from their. My grades started to drop as well as my friend count. I felt like alone and as if
What makes me the person I am you ask? My family and ministers are the people who have helped me become the person I am today. Without ministers or more specifically my parents I would not be where I am today. One question people always ask is “How do you manage to do it? Or “How do you just let go of the past like that and move on so easy” My answer simply is “I just do.” Life is not always an easy ride, it comes with a lot of failure, successes and even lessons that are to be learned. During my nineteen years of life my parents have taught me how to care, how to love and most importantly how to be a godly woman. A woman who helps other people in need, but also a woman who has daily struggles just like everyone else. The real question is how did I become the woman I am today? Some things that have helped shape me along the way would be letting go of the past, knowing my worth, and most importantly prayer.
values that was instilled in me as a child help guide my daily actions. I was thought to be very honest and
My parents, sacred places I like to visit, and knowledge that God is with me continue to make a difference in my Christian life. I know that as I grow older I will continue to have experiences that show me God is present in my world. I hope I can continue to be a good and positive influence on those around me so that I can help them to see God’s presence as well.
Although I am only sixteen years old and in the eleventh grade of high school, many things have influenced me and caused me to be the person that I am today. I hope that these things will continue to help me be a better person and influence me as my life continues. Some of the things that have influenced me have been church, my family, my friends, and school.
Throughout life we come across many people, some who influence us in negative ways, and those who influence in good ways, often changing our complete outlook on life. For me, it took the struggle of one of my best friends to open my eyes. I only wish it wasn't too late to thank her.
There were many instances in my life that have shaped my values, intellect, and academic or career goals. I was raised by my parents to become a hard worker, independent, and caring young adult. I was taught how to be all these qualities by a combination of experiencing and witnessing them first hand.
But through it all, I am glad i developed through life the way I am, getting my first real job really help me but my best foot forward into the working world of being in adult. I learned a lot of new things, especially the darker and brighter parts of it all. It really helped push me to do other things that I was afraid to do, like getting my license and my car. I thank my father and my mother for being an influence even if it was negative a lot more than I would have liked. All of these events changed me and made me the man i am today, and I would never go back and change any of
The faith that I have, and my parents’ example, have both had a large impact on who I am
