What the Green Party Represents and What They Believe
When I was assigned this Environmental I-search project, I was not too thrilled about the idea of me having to research subjects that have to do with nature. My first challenge was finding a topic, which I found interesting, and intrigued me into looking further into this topic. My first choice was going to be researching the Casa Grande Fish Hatchery. I had chosen this topic because I have many friends that work in the hatchery, but never really knew why the hatchery was there, or what was done inside. But I encountered a problem when I discovered that I would not be able to interview any one over break. After thinking about another topic I could base my project on, I began to think about the green party.
During the last presidential election, it seemed a lot of people were looking towards the option of voting for Ralph Nader, the leader of the green party, to be our next president. But it seems no one really knows what the green party represents, and what they believe. Before I started this project, I knew very little about the green party’s beliefs, and practices. All I knew is that they were into conserving nature, and thought of them as the hippie type. Basically I thought that they were interested in plants and greenery, and that their best interest was just to keep the earth clean in a matter that we can live on it for many years to come. There was a lot I wanted to learn about the green party, but I didn’t know where to start. I didn’t know what I wanted to know, all I knew is that I wanted to know more about this somewhat hidden party. I began to write down some questions, and comparing what I know about the other parties, and seeing if I could maybe clear ...

...ink there is a good chance I might in the future. It seems like a good political party that would benefit every one, and solve a lot of inequalities in this country. Although I was not able to interview any one o the green party, the information I found online was enough to tell me this is a very well put together political party with great ideas.

The political cartoon by Nick Anderson depicts Ralph Nader standing at a podium addressing American society’s “throw away mentality”. Meanwhile a citizen in the background is casting her vote for the green party behind him. Ironically, the ballot drops into a waste basket, thus a wasted vote. We now realize that Nader is not talking about the environment, but addressing the issue of how the general public views votes for 3rd party candidates. This cartoonist feels that we should reform our views on 3rd party candidates and vote for who we think would make the best president, despite there chance of winning or not.
I simply like how the Peace and Freedom Party focuses on a broad scale of issues and they go into depth about wanting to have peace and freedom for everyone and protecting and preserving Earth for as long as we all shall live. Also, I like how the peace and freedom party doesn’t simply focus on the large issues that attract people to them, but it seems like they actually want to make a change in the way people think about each other and instead of fighting one another they want people of all races, genders, sexual orientations and more to come together and help each other out. Overall, this is an amazing third party that I would join because they want the same thing I do for this state and eventually for the country as a whole and they not only concentrate on big issues, but small ones too. The democratic and republican parties share some differences and similarities to the freedom and peace party, but The Freedom and Peace party is like having the best of both worlds for me and that is what makes it appealing to
The Green Party of Canada, also known as the GPC, is a minor Canadian federal political party that is known for preaching ecological wisdom. Founded in November of 1983 in Ottawa, GPC currently holds one seat in the House of Commons. GPC was highly motivated by observing the West German Green Party, which overcome great odds to win 27 parliamentary seats.2 Over the past several years, GPC has made remarkable strides to advance its political platform and gain a voice in the House of Commons. In 2000, GPC received only 0.8% of the votes and received zero seats in the House. However, GPC heavily improved in the 2004 federal election, winning 4.3% of the votes. After this “electoral breakthrough,” GPC earned a great deal of respect and garnered attention in the mass media.2 More importantly, by receiving 4.3% of the votes, GPC qualified for federal funding. By doing so, GPC received much-needed subsidies that would eventually play a huge role in its emergence in Canadian politics. Four years later in the 2008 federal election, GPC received 6.8% of the votes to ensure that green issues would be discussed in policy agendas of Canadian government.
More evidence of The Nation’s political stance is evident in the article “Nader and the Politics of Fear” by William Greider. In the article, Greider talks about how Ralph Nader and the Greens could be both harmful and helpful to the Democratic Party. Greider first addresses that Nader received 2.7% of the vote in the last Presidential Election that could have ensured Al Gore a clean victory. This has caused a lot of democrats in the party to despise Nader and the Greens. Portraying Nader in this fashion shows that The Nation is not extremely left winged. Later on in the article, Greider talks about how the Democrat Party has “fallen” in the House and the Senate. He describes how the Democrat Party is now a minority party for the first time since 1950s, and that the party must get used to this fact in order to survive.
This party is necessary to the United States because it expands upon the ideas of a major party, and improves them by strengthening foreign policy and reducing the national debt. The party also strongly encourages individuals to take responsibility of their own lives, and not be dependent upon other people. This is evident in both the party name, and one of their planks concernin...
To conclude, third party political organizations offer a different perspective to look at some of the nation’s leading issues. By analyzing these topics outside of the status quo dominant political parties, one can gain a fuller understanding of how to solve the issue at hand. The Constitutional and the Libertarian Party help contribute to an overall sense of America’s issues and some of the possible solutions.
The Green Party members for the most part believe that it is time to take a more

Before figuring out my political philosophy, I considered myself a moderate. As far as I knew, a liberal was someone who promoted radical change, while a conservative was someone who wanted no change at all—neither group seemed appealing to me because of their negative associations. However, after learning more about each group in class while filling out the World and American political models and identifying my values, I realized I am a liberal. While I filled out the Value Worksheets, Issues handout, and class notes, I scored very liberal on all of these worksheets. There were very few things which were conservative, and even some of those conservative views could be subject to change. My realization brought some surprise, and I felt conflicted. The conflict arose in my determination of values. While deciding which issue I considered important, I realized I had not considered many of these issues before this project. I also realized I did not know enough about these subjects-for example, deficit spending-to make a well-informed decision. Another reason I felt conflicted had to do with how the qu...
My Political Views are most consistent with the Libertarian Party. Libertarian party fights for the personal freedoms of every American. The Libertarian Agenda includes restoring Constitutional Government, legalizing narcotics, no gun control at all, eliminating the Federal Income Tax, cut defense and spending, and running campaigns on privately donated money. The Libertarian Party believes in absolute economic and social freedom. The party believes the only role of government should be protecting people and property against injury. The party believes that government should not regulate the economy at all. Government should only protect a business owner?s property and resources. Compared with the two parties in power currently, the Libertarian Party would not be consistent with either party?s agenda and is unique in its own political aspects.
According to Hershey (2007), a political party “is a body of men united, for promoting by their joint endeavors the national interest, upon some particular in which they are all agreed” (p. 6). Political parties, in America, produce three interacting parts which is party organization, party in government, and party in the electorate. Party organization includes party leaders and the activists who worked for the causes and candidates. Party in government is made of both the men and women that compete for and hold public office with the party’s name. Party in the electorate is when the citizen show their loyalty to the party. The goals and strategies of a political party are to choose and compete elections; inform the citizens about issues important
In America we have two main political parties the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, each with different point of views. Democrats are labeled as liberals and the Republicans are considered conservatives. Neither of the two parties are made up of people who totally agree with everything the party stands for. Both parties disagree on three major issues abortion, same-sex marriage and universal health care. I found that my beliefs, ideas and views tend to lean more towards the Democratic side, and will be focusing on supporting the democrat party on these three main issues in association to civil rights.
Political parties look at all issues and points and criticize them on how they look at other parties. They use publicity to get the word out to citizens to inform them of what is going on with important issues and they present different ways that they can solve those problems. This is a great way to involve the people in the government. People who affiliate with a political party usually support most of the party's positions--at least more than they support the positions of the other party. (Political Parties, 2014)
STATE THESIS & MAIN POINTS: I’m going to persuade you that going green is one solution you could do to help improve the environment by first explaining the problem, then by explaining the factors responsible for pollution, and lastly by listing ways that can help solve this problem.
