The original and very popular chicken sandwich, made only at Chick-fil-A, does not require any elaborate ingredients; however, it does require the right ingredients and a precise process. Almost every time I tell someone that I work at Chick-fil-A I hear in response “I love that place.” That to me is very reassuring that they are doing something right. The Chick-fil-A sandwich has been made the same way for the last forty-six years. Although it only consists of a few steps, if one is not done properly it can change the whole outcome. Three years ago I was introduced to the process of how this one of a kind sandwich is made. Now I would like to share this process with you. The Chick-fil-A sandwich was first invented by Truett Cathy in 1964 in the kitchen of his restaurant the “Dwarf Grill.” It started as just a menu add on but its popularity quickly grew, and its potential was obvious. When you follow the actual process of making a ready to eat Chick-fil-A sandwich it takes two days. The chicken that is used comes from the same providers since the beginning of the business. Each case contains six, six pound bags frozen filets. Once a new case of filets are needed it will be pulled out of the freezer and prepared for thawing. You will need to break down the case and have two six pound bags placed on a tray. The tray is then placed in a specially designed thawing cooler. In this cooler the temperature is at a constant forty degrees, and the filets will remain here for about eight to ten hours. The chicken is an all white meat boneless chicken breast that is pre-weighted and lightly seasoned. Once the chicken breast has been reweighed and checked that it is the proper size, it is trimmed of the fat and filleted open... ... middle of paper ... ...t to sit back and enjoy the tasty original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. The simpler the product the better and this chicken sandwich is proof of just that. All you need is a good idea, good ingredients, and a product that you can produce at the same quality time and time again. Through my experience, anyone can do this. You don’t need any elaborate training. All you need is the self-discipline to ensure that every time you make this sandwich you will follow the described process from the beginning to the end. One of my favorite comments that I hear from customers is that it doesn’t matter what time of day, or day of the week they come in they always receive the same quality sandwich. Now that you are familiar with this process you will no longer have to wonder what is so original about the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich but you will certainly enjoy every bite.
