Dentistry
Dentistry can be a wonderful career choice for someone who is interested in interacting with the public and cares about healthy teeth and gums; there are many job options for someone planning to enter this field such as dentist, orthodontist, dental hygienist, dental assistant, and dental lab technician. Dentistry is job that takes care of patient’s teeth. One of the tasks of a dentist job is drilling. It was first invented in the 7000 BC located in Indus Valley Civilization. Drilling was the first thing that was taught in Dentistry Career (History of Dentistry). After World War 2 ended most of Americans started brushing their teeth. In 5000 BC is when tooth worms were found in teeth.

Shortly after that all states are requiring to have license for being a dental hygienist. In 1957, ADHA removed restrictions based on any kind of race (Timeline of Dentistry). Soon Columbia University made a decision for students for first master’s degree in dental hygiene.
During 1965, First male that graduate from University of New Mexico as a dental hygienist was Jack Orio. This same year that American Dental Association made a law that males can be a dental hygienist (Timeline of Dentistry). In 1970, The First Internation Symposium on dental hygiene was convening in Italy according to Sindecuse Museum. A year after dental hygienist uniforms has changed. You can now wear pants while working with patients.
For Michigan in 1978, their legislature passed a law that allows dental hygienist to administer local anesthesia only if they completed appropriate coursework (Timeline of Dentistry). Also obtain dental records, order dental supplies, and materials. To be a dentist you have to major in science like biology, anatomy, anesthesia, periodontology, and chemistry. Also radiology and the study of oral disease and health are included (Dental Assistant Source 4). When you take these courses it should increase your chances of being accepted.
College undergraduates usually take the DAT Test (Dental Acceptance Test) on their junior year. When applying into a dental school, it can be competitive (Dentist Source 11). Dental schools use DAT test along with grade point average and recommendations. Dental Schools have when students can practice work with patients at the clinical under the supervision of a licensed dentist (Dentist Source 11).
