What Role Did John Smith Play In American History

John Smith John Smith, to me was one of the most important people in early coloial history. He played a major role in sculpting the first colony, Jameston Virginia, in 1607. Its hard to even imagine the things he went through from being captured, imprisend, as well as almost getting executed. The three most astonishing roles John Smith has accomplished are, being saved by Pocahontas,explorations and his published writings. One of the most famous events in American history in my opinion,is when John Smith was allegedly saved by the Powotan indian Pocahontas. He wrote several published readings including letters to the Queen and journals about his explorations in America. In my assumption the letter to the Queen was to vouch for Pocahontas on how she actually did risk her life to save his. In judgement of Pocahontas, she was attempting to save the settlement by warning Smith of her fathers plans to destroy it. The journals about his exploration of the Chesapeake Bay were significant to understanding the nature of his journey. My presumption is that these records were to show Europe the amount of land and resources the Americas had to offer. Also the information he wrote was to convince the Europeans that indians were willing assist in the success of English settlements. His second journal entry of his voyages was about being accepted by the indians. This was important because it revealed the indians true nature. One of my favorite writings by John Smith was the description he gave about the first colonists in Virginia, 1606 to 1607. He sheds light on the many struggles, and hardships he faced on this voyage.
