George Washington is a name anyone recognizes when they hear it. This is because of how famous and influential he is. Washington was the first president of the United States that was Commanding General during the American Revolution. Washington represented Virginia during the revolutionary; he feared political parties would damage the nation as a whole. He also led the Continental Army against the mighty British Army as they began their fight for independence. To get into more detail about who George Washington was; he represented Virginia at the first and second Continental Congresses. He was appointed the commander in chief of the Continental Army after the bloodshed at Lexington and Concord. During that time he overcame several obstacles, especially with supplies, but he fashioned a trained and disciplined fighting force. His strategy was continual harassment of the British Forces while also avoiding general actions. George Washington understood the contribution of political parties but he was very concerned that because they had previously, and they would again, grow and seek more power than other groups to the detriment of the whole.
