Looking back I have come to realize that the path I have chosen couldn’t be more fitting for who I am and who I aspire to be. I remember my father always telling me that I have a place in the business world at a very early age. Whether it was selling candy during my high school years, working my way up in an organization, or creating procedures that improved the efficiency and production of an entire department. I have come to realize I have much to offer wherever I go. This was not always the case I must admit explaining why I am most likely older than a majority of candidates. I was told to not include negative aspects of my life in any of my responses, but that is not who I am. It is strange to say but being a high school dropout and working a dead end job were probably the best choices I could have made. It took time but the choices I made in the past are the driving forces that bring me here today, writing this response, prepared to extend my knowledge, and eager to enter the business world. The day I applied to my local community college was the day that I realized that I can and will do this. Since then I was able to achieve every goal I set for myself while working a full time job and raising a family. I am eager to begin the testing process for the much anticipated CPA exam. I understand your program is not considered a CPA review, however the benefit of a broad and challenging curriculum, taught by a faculty with motivating accolades, will give me a highly developed understanding of the accounting and business relationship. I plan to begin the CPA testing process as soon as possible and look forward to earning the CPA license. Upon graduation I hope to quickly enter the field, gain experience, and grow a network of connections. Being employed by one of the larger accounting corporations will be the best option for me to accomplish the tasks noted above. The recruitment of these organizations on your campus played a large role in pursuing a MAC at this stage of my education and career. As for long-term goals, I dream to follow in a very influential professors footsteps. As a personal mentor and alumni member of Villanova University, Professor Michael Decosmo, who is the CPA of his own firm and has been teaching at East Stroudsburg University for quite some time, inspired me to follow the path he chose for himself.
