You also need to have a fair set of assumptions and goals. Have Faith In Yourself One of the worst things you can do as a supervisor is to disbelief your own capabilities. If you're unfamiliar with supervising others, remember that you will apparently make some blunders along the measures, but that does not mean you are not a good leader.
