Friendship. What is the meaning of a true friendship? Who is that one true friend or friends? Whether it is a person’s pet, spouse, or sisters, friendship is that special bond between two or more individuals that share a mutual affection. While there is no limit on how, where, or even what the friendship is form or function, friends make everyone happy; most of the time. Sometimes it is hard to find that one person who a person can form a friendship with, however Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley had some bumps and bruises in the beginning of their trio friendship. Ultimately, with their special trio bond, all three of them have a friendship to worth a lifetime.
J.K. Rowling expresses how important friendship is within the first the first novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, due to the importance of Harry overcoming any task that is put forth upon him. Before coming to Hogwarts, Harry was a lonely child. Not only does he not have a supportive loving family, but no friends to communicate with. The only family Harry has is his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Cousin Dudley, neither of them supporting Harry in any way. After becoming a student at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, Harry gains plenty of friends within his house, Gryffindor. Most importantly, Harry gains two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who supports and sticks with Harry from the beginning to the end. However, Harry’s friendship with Hermione and Ron is not a typical everyday friendship. Hermione is the smart and overachiever and Ron is not the brightest, but his loyalty keeps his friendship with Harry strong. With the different traits coming from each of the three, their personality is what keeps them together.

There are more important things – friendship and bravery…” (Hermione, Sorcerer’s…287). As Hermione stated her quote, it gave Harry some encouragement that he will defeat Voldemort, again. Harry then proceeds to go get the stone from Voldemort. With friends like Hermione and Ron, Harry has nothing to worry about for the rest of his Hogwarts adventures.
The power of friendship will never die between Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Through all the obstacles the three of them have accomplished together, it shows that their friendship is worth a lifetime. Not only has Harry, Ron, and Hermione helped each other out with their first year at Hogwarts, they each have been through much more than what any other first year student at Hogwarts has.
