Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. -Ralph Waldo Emerson The relevance of this quote to the speeches Antony and Brutus gave to the people is just something as simple as a speech gave move or change a whole group of people like the people of Rome. Although Brutus and the conspiracy carefully planned out the assassination and Brutus’ speech, they could still not out smart Antony especially letting him speak after Brutus. In the end, Antony planned his speech better and used great rhetoric on the people of Rome to persuade them to his side. Brutus used a lot of logos and ethos to try to use his respect and position on the people to persuade them. He used almost no emotion and that was one of his biggest downfalls.
