INTRO:
“Public education in America has an impressive history of success in equipping students with literacy that extends back to the earliest days of our nation” (Maranto, 2015). Education is the building blocks to ones social skill, but higher authorities determine the criteria that the students are taught in school. Influence in education varies place to place, but in most places it starts at home. Although learning start at home, the primary influence in education is not from parents. The primary influence in education is from the federal level due to federal funding’s that schools receive. Local and Government control have both played a significant role in education for multiple years in helping better schools. Just recently government has began to assist and improve multiple failing schools. Government control has taken over in the sense of standardized testing, which “grew in acceptance and popularity within the education community over the decades”(Maranto, 2105). The first standardized test was taken in 1845, which government had created to see if students were being taught the criteria required. Up until recently as well, a lot of the education finance came from the federal government, but in 2013 “Local control funding formula (LCFF) has increased district officials’ fiscal flexibility; provides more resources to districts..” (Wolf, 2016). In the past students in low-income areas were not provided with the resource materials they needed to help better their learning experience. But since LCFF has come in to act, it has helped these low-income areas schools and encourages community members to partake in district decisions. Education was not always at the top of the list of priorities when it first began. It was thought to be a place that was going to teach the young children about religion and how to work and read, but soon many realized that it was not going to do exactly that. Yes, education helps betters a person’s knowledge to be able to grow as a working person, but also it educates one to have more knowledge of events that took place in the past. The government plays a huge role in education, because it is able to see all schools scores and know what the majority of the problems in education are. What many don’t know is that the problems in education are caused differently by people and students in places. If local control was to begin to have a bigger say in the schools, then these problems could have a better chance of
