Every year, a group of professional political campaigners and volunteers come together to advocate for their candidate to help elect them into a government position. Depending on what the candidate is running for much thought, energy, and money is put into successfully campaigning for the candidate. Candidates have to grab voter’s attention and convince them why they should vote for them rather than the other candidates. One of the major components that go into the campaign is the media strategy. Media technologies have given a new dimension on political campaigns. Media strategies include the messaging the candidate choices to get across, the use of social media in the campaign, and how the candidate presents themselves in public appearances. Often times, social media is used for advertisement and for leaders and public officials to interact with their followers. One of the many social media accounts that are used by political campaigns is twitter. Twitter provides a platform for candidates to interact with their voters personally.
