Political Correctness has Gone Too Far The “Politically Correct” movement’s purpose is to bring historically condescending terms, offensive music and art, and controversial educational content to an end and replace them with more positive and less-offending references. Offensive and demoralizing efforts are wrong, but the censorship and deletion of words and phrases that do not contain the intention to demoralize are taking political correctness too far. Politically correct (or “PC”) antics have created a social decline that is growing worse with each generation, specifically regarding areas of art, education, language, and our right to freedom of speech; the degradation they have brought to the American psyche has even led to name-changing. The PC mindset has also discouraged artistic expression. Imagine being to be so sensitive about offending people that we let the art we create be determined by the offended.
Tattoos were once only seen on sailors, outlaws, and biker gangs ("Tattoos") but recently have been popular amongst many people. Getting a tattoo doesn't technically mean you are a bad person. Tattoo is a form of art that is used to express someone through body decorations injected by ink. Although many people believe that tattoos are not necessary and can destroy your appearance, it can be inspirational and help people get through their hardships. Humans have marked their bodies with tattoos for thousands of years.
The polemic about tattoos I was wondering why tattoos are a controversial point in our society! There are people against and people that really like tattoos, but who is right? Should I think it is a good or a bad thing? Maybe for the tattooists the art involves is worth the pain and sacrifice of being tattooed. For the religious, it is a sin to sacrifice one’s body with so meaningless purpose.
When art becomes offensive, sometimes people decide to take their disapproval out on the piece, instead of being respectful towards the artist and the work that has gone into the art. This concept is called iconoclasm, and today, iconoclasm is certainly happening. People believe that it is justified to destroy art for the sake of their religious or political beliefs. Our culture has become offensive and hurt, where people now decide that they can take the law into their own hands because of their emotional feelings towards an art piece. Iconoclasm is an emotionally powered act that isn’t justified because there are other ways of having your voice heard or preventing something from happening, besides destroying art.
Other people may be interested in proving their independence by running their own lives, or simply that each tattoo or piercing has a very significant meaning to a previous time in their life (Gay and Whittington 12-13). Many people in the older generation of today believe this art to be vandalism of the human body and dislike it with a passion. In the younger generation, many people are concluding that piercings and tattoos are, in fact, creative individualism, and they are treasures to be proud of rather than hidden. They believe that body art and jewelry personify unique opinions, express a person’s history, or even merely... ... middle of paper ... ... Self-Mutilation. Ed.
(Hoover Institution: Stanford University). Even though many believe hate speech is designed to put down people, hate speech should not be regulated or restricted because it is virtually impossible to control tensions between people by preventing them from speaking their true opinions, without violating the First Amendment. Hate speech is a very important topic, especially in the United States. Many do not know the thin line between criticisms and hate speech. One way criticism and hate speech differ is the intention of hate speech, if it was used purposely for “the stirring of hatred and hostility t... ... middle of paper ... ...termining who was right and who was wrong would create the problem because they would have to justify the reason they ruled that way.
This is important because even those that rely on tattooing people for an income believe that people do not put enough thought into the tattoo and that takes away from the beauty of it. I tend to side with the tattoo artists that believe that, people getting tattoos at the spur of the moment usually end up being a bad representative for those who have tattoos since they regret their tattoos. Tattoos were originally for the subculture in America and people identified that they were a part of the subculture since they have a
As we walk around in the world, and look at the people that pass us we judge them by the way they look. The way they ware their clothing, hair, and makeup but also what is on our bodies such as: tattoos, and body modifications, which we judged people the hardest on. Tattoos and body modifications should not be used to judge people, because it is a way to express themselves and is ultimately an art-form. People should not judge others based on the tattoos and body modification that they have all on their bodies. The reason is because tattoos and body modifications do not tell how a person's character nor their work ethic.
Actions such as tattooing, blemishes the body in a manner that repeals the moral beliefs of bodily appearances in Western circumstances. This kind of body engraving method supplies a way for the individual to completely change the appearance of their body on the outside. Within consumer culture, the use of body-modification methods varies from those in pre-modern or non-Western circumstances in the logic that these methods particularly aim their attention on the illustration of ones body. In previous years, methods of engraving were related to the stigmatization of certain social groupings and weren’t cooperative to extermination. As an example, tattoos were symbols on the skin that symbolized or indicated individuals who were socially classified

Lee Romney also wrote, ”Designer limbs must represent personality as well as physicality.” This means that theses leg have to work well to.
