A good amount of people in the world would like to believe everyone gets along, that the problems of racism and discrimination we once had have been completely erased. This is not always the case. We live in a world so judgemental, that in some ways discrimination is worse than ever. It is worse now, because it is mainly done behind the backs of others. While many would like to argue they are not judgemental or discriminatory at all, this is usually not the case.
Persistence has always been considered a positive trait. Although now, hopefully others will see that there are negative aspects to everything in life. People just have to understand that in the end, good still may outrule the bad. Everyone tries to make everything either good, or bad. When in reality they are just hiding from the truth.
Persistence has always been considered a positive trait. Although, hopefully others will now see that there are negative aspects to persistence and apply that to their everyday life. Maybe it’s because the police officers are racist and more suspicious about African Americans, but then again, maybe it’s because the African Americans commit more crime. Even if they do, it’s quite likely that this criminal attitude is roused when they are treated unfairly and discriminated against. Anyway, racism is the action of setting up unfair differences in between people of different races. The thing in our mind that provokes racism is prejudice. Prejudice is a negative thought that exists inside our mind, and it causes us to treat different people in a different way.
Other emotions such as sadness, fear, and anger are just as important in life as happiness because too much happiness can cause a lack of encouragement and risky behavior. People often believe happiness is the most important emotion, but negative emotions are just as important because these negative emotions help motivate people, they are human, and they can affect the way one reacts in a negative situation. Negative emotions can be a source of motivation for one to try harder in their everyday life. If someone is happy and content with the way their life is going, they will not put forth the effort to grow and progress. In Sharon Begley’s article “Happiness: Enough Already,” Begley implies that it is
Glaucon’s three examples prefer injustice, and he gives examples of the acceptance of injustice over justice. The only factual foundation that his argument holds, is that sometimes we let our wants and desires muffle our conscience. Sometimes we make bad decisions even though our conscience tells us it’s bad, but we ignore it because we desire our wants. Everyone will have their own views on this, but it really varies upon each person. Someone may be unjust and they can completely agree because they are reaping the benefits from being unjust versus when they were a just person, they just haven’t experienced the consequences of being unjust.
This caused some individuals not to be themselves for the gang. Internal and external expectations changed the group to be better or worse. The Greasers were expected by others to do bad things, but they were able to prove they could be heroes. The Greasers are disgrace to the society which helped them to strive to become real heroes. While the Socs were to pressure by the high expectations they decided to rebel.
When you’re wrong, or you don’t know something and you can admit it, it is an opportunity to learn and grow. That is nothing to fear or be ashamed of, but for some reason we perpetuate the myth of seeing an apology as weakness. There are many people that mistake not apologizing as a sign of strength. They fool themselves into believing that to apologize would make them seem weak, or put them in a vulnerable position. The truth is there is absolutely nothing strong about hurting someones feelings.
Nor on whatever flaws they might recognize in themselves, or how they compare to others on some arbitrary metric. Too much self-consciousness or low self-esteem can be degrading and get in the way of happiness. But the truth is that many of the things that cause low self-esteem are too mundane to let them jeopardize your life perspective and psychological well-being. If you have self-esteem issues, ask yourself one simple question: what are you doing here? This impossible question should be tackled with one of the most important fact checks anyone can make: you are genuinely unique.
Try your best to love them for who they are, not who you want them to appear to be. Restrain yourself and don't try to change anybody because you want their appearance to be a certain way. Most of all, don't change who they are as a person. Everybody have their flaws, even you have flaws too. Having no friends can be hard.
