To them women are considered objects with no value, in many ways trying to show that men are wanting to be superior to women. For many years, many people have focused on the idea of feminism in how men have continuously overpower women in any cultural and social aspect. Feminism is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. This is a topic that has been around for a long time and is still being discussed today. Feminist write about this topic being both women and men. Many literary texts involve the idea of feminism, like The Awakening, “The Yellow Wallpaper”, and “The Story of an Hour” are perfect examples of a feminist text. The idea that the characterization of women and the usefulness to men, gave men the sense of power that they can show women off as possessions rather than a human being they are proud of who they are. Women being considered less then men, is a topic feminist have explained in many types of ways including texts. For example, in the short story “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, in the text Gilman shows how the woman in the story is set to be because of how men and society wants her to be, “nobody would believe what an effort it is to do what little I am able,-to dress and entertain, and order things.” Gilman clearly expresses that the way the woman is expected to be. Not only is it implied to her, but as well to the other women because in the eyes of men they are expected to be beautiful to show them off as their prized possessions. Men believe that women are meant to be shown off as objects rather than be treated as a human
