God love is defined in 1 John 4:16. 1 John 4:16 God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them? It then seems also to say in 1 John 4:16 that a caring loving person has the presents of God as a part of their very being! Have you ever stopped to examine the term love in the ways that are presented in our lesson? No matter how we personally describe the act of love wither we think love is an emotion or that love is found in our actions; we have missed the truth about God’s form of love. Could you possibly believe that those same people who had the misfortune of coming into contact during the past week with your abrasive attitude’s are really going to be impressed by your shiny halo personality that you display while at church on Sunday? I’m afraid that the contemptable attitude you displayed every day last week will have much more of a negative influence on those you came in contact with than you’re attempt at telling them that there is a God who loves them on Sunday. The lesson states that we have a responsibility to demonstrate the Gospel as an example in our daily lives for others to see as well as proclaiming the Gospel to others. The author of our lesson gave us a eye opening history lesson concerning the development and growth of the early Christian church in pagan Rome. Can the simply act of living a Gospel based life really have an effect on others? There was no cure known cure for the plague. No one knew what caused the plague or how to prevent the plague from being transmitted from one individual to another. Christian people stayed behind in the cities and attempted to care for those afflicted with the plague. Other Roman citizens abandoned the plague infested cities; they also abandoned those who were suffered the ravages of the plagues. This extreme example of Christian love demonstrated to pagan Roman people what true Christian love is. Can you imagine yourself and your family remaining in a diseased filled city as it enduring the ravages of the plagues? All around those Christians thousands of people were dying terrible deaths. These Christian people remained to help others when there was no cure for the plague and there would absolutely not be any help available to them if they also became infected? There would be no treatment or assistance available to you if you contracted this awful disease. Would you have stayed to help strangers because of your Christian
