Samsung 1938 and Google 1996. When Samsung was born the notion of responsible business was not prevalent nor the notion of HRM, therefore these practises have been adopted by the corporation. Google in comparison was born in a time of CSR, and therefore has these practises are embedded throughout all operations. The research undertaken suggest Samsung is practising organisational learning as opposed to Google who appear to be a learning organisation. Another key difference is culture between the two countries of operation. Preuss (2009) describes CSR as a predominantly American concept and practice. Pasquero, (2004), cited in Preuss (2009), suggests that American CSR is embedded in American culture and institutions, and is dominant in the traditions of individualism, democratic pluralism and utilitarianism. The writer concludes the favourable company for investment, in relation to responsible business practise and HRM to be Google.
