Individuals live everyday by different personal values. Everyone is diverse by their different values and the way they choose to live their life. My personal values affect the way I make my own choices and decisions in my life. When I obtain employment as a social work, I will have to follow the social worker’s code of ethics and values established by the National Association of Social Workers even if they are unlike my values. Therefore, I will explain my personal values as they relate to social work values and whether my values are mindless or mindful.

As a future social worker, I will be demonstrating to the client a positive regard by not judging their current situation by inspiring them to follow their goals and desires even if they are not the same as mine. Also, my personal value to inspire people will contribute to the social work value of service. My deep rooted personal value of inspiration will assist in putting my client’s needs first and finding a balance in caring for myself while supporting the client (Barsky, 2010, p. 22). Therefore, I have to be mindful at all times that the client’s values are their own. As a result, I must respect all clients by self-regulating my thoughts and words towards them if I do not agree with their opinions.
