Welcome to the 2015 coffee bean bonanza. In the blue corner we have the territorial, greedy, selfish Coffee Addicts! And in the red corner we have the compromising, understanding, courteous everyday people!
Why is it that we have some people in society that are addicted to coffee, who feel the need to occupy a certain space in ‘their’ coffee shop when its seen as totally outrageous by us everyday people? There really isn’t any need for this type of behaviour if all they plan to do is sit and drink coffee.
Unless you have some rare condition that require a certain amount of light through a window and has to be so far away from the street there is really no need for the nonsense that they seem to carry on with when they can’t get their own way.

Pacing around, fidgeting, unaware of the disturbance they can cause.
Even then they can be as territorial as a crocodile protecting its young. To be honest, it is not necessary at all to act in this way.
Everyone else waits their turn in line and how are they supposed to know that that seat was in fact a seat of the regulars that would attack if they had even the slightest idea that you were sitting in their seat.
This can affect the sales of the business, as other customer could be drawn away due the simple fact that there maybe have been a disturbance there. Or even that there is simply too much hassle having to deal with these kinds of people.
There is actually no need for this type of behaviour from these coffee addicts.
How many times have you heard someone say, ‘Get off the free Wi-Fi, I want more!’ Gee, I wonder if they know that that’s not how the Wi-Fi works.
Do people, especially coffee addicts, know that even if there are less people using the Wi-Fi that it for a fact does not change the speed of it? Not one little bit. If you have noticed that people goes strange when there is Wi-Fi involved, not to mention that it’s

Coffee shop are seen as a social place. Yeah right, more like the ‘social media’ side of being social. There are so many effects that this can have on your brain, not to mention what has already happened to our brains.
Dr Gary Small conducted an experiment that had 24 people use the internet for certain time periods over the course of so many days. Every day their brains were scanned to show any changes. By the time that they had been told to spend 5 hours on the internet, there were astonishing results.
‘Five hours on the internet, and the naive subjects had already rewired their brains.’
Large blob like shapes had appeared on the brain scan showing that there had been some sort of change in the way that the brain was working. The brain had basically rewired its self by the simple means on using the internet.
Add all of this in the caffeine intoxicated brains of our coffee addicts and you have a recipe for either disaster or total world domination.
Now you’re probably wondering how on earth these people survive if they didn’t get their coffee fix for the day.
Well there is actually health problems that can be caused by drinking too much coffee like anxiety and muscle
The larger serving size of Great Cups of Coffee is perhaps the most apparent gage that will improve appeal for the company’s customers. Receiving extra of a proportionately quality product for a comparable price obviously works as an enticement for customers to prefer Great Cups more than the opposition. While customers identify with a better quality and superior taste with fresher coffee, Great Cups supports its effective model of serving coffee that has been roasted no more 72 hours ago and that is blended and ground right at the store. Great Cups also provides as an unintended marketing method community bulletin boards and assists with book club gatherings as well as
By this definition, and after knowing the effects of caffeine upon the human body, I have come to the conclusion that drinking caffeine is a sign of a lack of respect for oneself, and of an unappreciative attitude toward the life that each of us has been blessed with. Furthermore, it shows of either our inability, or unwillingness to learn to think clearly.
Fish’s depiction of the process of buying a coffee now is an unfair stereotype, as not everyone has experienced what he describes. For example Fish states, “if you are patient and stay in line (no bathroom breaks), you get to put in your order,” (Fish). The bathroom comment was quite unnecessary because nobody gets bathroom breaks for long lines. This quote by Fish was illogical for his argument. Fish continues, stating that when one receives a coffee, the “real problem” is how the coffee accessories are placed. There are too many of them, Fish believes, and the order is random. This is not true for most coffee shops. Typically in coffee shops, the dairy is together, the sugars are neatly piled, the straws and napkins are stacked tidily. Of course, there are coffee shops now that are how Fish described. However, he only describes a percentage of coffee shops, not all of them. Fish should have made that clear in his argument. To continue, Fish writes about people fighting over the accessories and balancing coffee in one hand. This comment is almost theatrical in its description. The scene Fish depicts is rarely seen at coffee shops. Fish’s argument does not represent a realistic representation of all coffee shops. Fish does not state this, therefore being unreliable in his
Focusing in on the meaning of what a coffee shop stands for, it is encompasses a third space that makes everyone feel welcomed when they walk inside the door of the coffee shop. Coffee shops have the environment to allow for common meeting spaces and bring the common folk together to become unified in a central location. The incident that occurred in Philadelphia should be a wake-up call to see that we need to focus not just on customer service, but on people care, whether the customer is buying something or just meeting a friend. There are potential risks that are seeping in on our franchise. For one, other coffee shops are gaining an increase in customers, which is a prominent example of why customer service scandals lead to a decrease in revenue.
New research has been unable to find any conclusive evidence that reasonable caffeine consumption is inherently detrimental to human health. Humans have been drinking it in coffee and tea for centuries because it elevated their mood and increased their ability to focus. The primary dangers regarding caffeine stem from its abuse in excessive amounts. Caffeine is addictive, and there will always exist the danger of overconsumption. However, when caffeine use is effectively monitored and regulated, it has many practical and positive purposes in everyday human functions. It is one of the most potent and least harmful stimulants available to the masses. It is quite effective for light use in dieting as an appetite suppressant and as a source of energy. All of these applications of caffeine have been discovered due to its widespread availability in a variety of different forms. The consequence of this ubiquity is that caffeine overconsumption is common as well and has its own list of negative side effects. Caffeine use should be monitored on a personal level to avoid harmful intoxication, but aside from that, caffeine is generally viewed as safe in rational
People around the world honestly do think that coffee has an impact on their lives and impact how they will feel the rest of the day. I personally feel that coffee is overrated because a drink cannot cause you to act differently. I think coffee has a psychological effect of making the person think they are actually getting energized by drinking a cup or two. When I drink coffee,
He states how he used to spend hours reading, but his concentration started to drift after two or three pages. He backed up his theory with stories from others who say they’re experiencing the same thing. But they still await the long-term neurological and psychological experiments that will provide a definitive picture of how the internet affects cognition. After a brief history lesson, Carr starts to incorporate Google into the article. He tells us about Google’s history and their mission.
Starbucks is a company in which purchases and roasts high quality whole bean coffees and sells them along with fresh, rich-brewed, Italian style espresso beverages, a variety of pastries and confections, and coffee-related accessories and equipment (starbucks.com). During my environmental scan in which took place at the Starbucks on the corner of Fair and Newport across the street from vanguard, I noticed many things in which where never brought to my attention in prior stays and visits at Starbucks; such as the many social groups in which choose to have their meetings at Starbucks. Thus in this essay we will discuss things in which many people do not really notice when going to Starbucks.
The media fails to project the negative effects of excessive caffeine intake. This literature review will illustrate how excessive caffeine consumption can be detrimental to one’s life, and how problematic caffeine use derives from conditioning by the caffeine industry. Caffeine is the single most widely consumed psychoactive substance in the United States (Einöther & Giesbrecht, 2013). According to Einöther and Giesbrecht (2013), 80% of the world’s population consumes caffeinated products every day, with coffee and tea being the primary sources. In the recent years, the demand for coffee has increased, causing the caffeine industry to create an expansion of coffee shops, new caffeinated beverages (Bailey, Saldanha, Gahche, & Dwyer, 2014), and mass-media advertising.
Americans are obsessed with a lot of things: our smart phones, celebrities, and finding a good bargain. But perhaps the thing we’re most obsessed with is good ol’ coffee. For many of us, our mornings are perfectly diabolical without at least a cup or two or three of the stuff. And, come 2 o’clock, when we know in our heart and bones we’ll never make it ‘til five and we need that pick me up, many of us head to the nearest deli or barista to grab a cup of “second wind.”
Coffee is the first thing that people associate with instant energy on a groggy morning. “In the U.S., coffee is king of beverages” (Reinke) Research has been done that has named coffee as an addiction to the people who consume large quantities of it. Coffee was named the top source of antioxidants. This is partly because of the amount consumed each day. Some of the antioxidants that coffee has are quinines and chlorogenic acid. It also contains trigonelline, an antibacterial compound. This is where coffee acquires its delicious aroma. Now let’s step back for a minute and just think about how much caffeine people consume. In an 8oz cup of coffee it has about 85 milligrams of caffeine. This is about double the amount that tea contains. Studies have shown that caffeine stimulates the brain and nervous system. This is where you get that energized feeling. After about the third cup, knees start to bounce, pens are clicking and people start running laps around the office. Caffeine can become addicting if you drink too much. Coffee can become that addictive habit people are unable to shake.
Millions of Americans begin each day by consuming the most widely used drug in the United States: caffeine. Over 90% of United States adults consume caffeinated food or beverages on a daily basis and over 50% take more than the recommended amount. Our innocent daily ritual can turn into an addiction for some, because many do not realize that caffeine is even a drug, let alone the effects it can have on their bodies. Its use is becoming more and more prominent in our society. It’s not uncommon to walk outside and see a Starbucks or coffee shop on each corner.
Ferdman, A. Roberto. (2015, Feb. 21). It’s official: Americans should drink more coffee. The Washington Post.
Coffee people drink coffee with a purpose, they need the caffeine to make them more alert and increase their productivity. On the other hand, tea drinkers usually drink tea because of the enjoyment that tea give them, the relaxations that tea provide. It is typical to imagine that a person holding a cup of coffee is working over night at an office and a tea person is often reading newspaper at Sunday afternoon. Unlike tea drinkers, coffee drinkers are more attached to their drink compared to tea drinkers. A coffee drinker must have his coffee fix every single morning otherwise he or she cannot function without it. However, a tea drinker can easily live without drinking tea for even a few days. Even though they both have caffeine inside their drink, coffee drinkers seem to be more addicted to caffeine and as time goes, they will become more dependent on
-those who were alone seemed to not spend much time in the coffee shop. As in, they would grab their drink and leave. There could be many reasons for this. For example, they may be uncomfortable hanging out at a cafe alone, or they may really be busy.
